had my gauges on a week or 2

boost maxes at 22-24psi

is that normal??

i am straight piped it made no diff.

and bhaf is drying (paint) and will go on this week

cant get the egts past 1150 so i dont think im leaking boost

whats your experinces any body run gauge bone stock??

max egt I saw stock was 1000 and my 04. 5 I could nail 35# easy. . . however your 22-24 sounds about right for an 03.
I have NEVER seen boost above 32 on mine!(not in the 70,000 miles so far)
And EGT's can hit 1300+ on any hill if I lean into it hard. Are you pre or post turbo? I'm pre-turbo between #3 and #4.
Cheers

stock [fueling] on my 04 i could pull about 25psi boost [you could hear the wastegate opening up at 23-24psi] and with the smarty now i can get close to 30 with the stock wastegate settings. egt stock fueling was in the low 1100's, now with smarty i get to around 1200's. haven't tried to go further as i always run out of road or start going too fast [can't afford tickets]

The ECU opens the WG and limits the boost. Put a boost fooler on it and you can get close to 40 psi with no problem. It'll take care of those nasty EGT's also. ;)

im pre turbo same spot 3-4

bhaf on and hit 24 so ill call it 1 psi

is that the sound difference i hear (very high pitched then drops in pitch @23-24psi) when the waste gate opens??

boy you can hear it with the bhaf (copied afe stage 2 minus top same filter and all)

any body tried plugging the elbow??

With an '03, you can not really get more air with a stock turbo, only hotter air. It's the air temp that actually makes the pressure go up. This is pretty hard on a stock turbo and there have been some failures. There was an article with graphs a couple of issues ago in the magazine about this.

My 04 is similar to your 03. With the Edge EZ boost elbow I can hit 32 psi boost. The 04. 5 has electronic control, so you really can't compare them to our style setup.

I agree that any boost much over 30 psi is over working the stock turbo and is only hot air and can definitely lead to turbo failure. The technical articles in the TDR have shown that clearly.

Have a 2006 Mega Cab cummins six speed. Just installed gauges and my boost seems a little wierd. When I hammer it, It jumps up to 30 psi, then flutters down to about 24 or so. Is that normal for this engine? I have real bad turbo surge in my Stroker, but I have that thing turned up 100 hp with a tymar intake and exhaust. my cummins is stock, seems abnormal? My EGTs hit about 1200-1250 hammering it (pyro between 3-4). That also seems high, and I am concerned after just reinstalling my manifold (yes, broke a tap in the manifold, had to remove the manifold and take it to a machine shop), that I may have a leak? Any ideas? Thanks,

Shane
