how to clean the sensor in the turbo inlet tube

Is there a safe way to clean this sensor? I have been haveing turbo spooling issues for a while now with no codes and no dealer help. It started on my way to get the transmission done during a 1300 mile road trip. It started as surging under full throttle and progressed to slow spool over time. Now it takes a full 3 seconds to get off the line and get going when I mash the loud peddle. I had just added my AFE pg7 stg2 set up before this trip and wonder if the oil from the filter is contaminating that sensor???

I will try the FCA next but befor spending the cash I would like to try this.

Any suggestions?

CRC Mass Air Flow Sensor Cleaner. It is available at most auto parts stores. I get mine at Napa.

Mass air flow sensor is the MAP sensor. I would say yes.

I thought the mass air flow (MAF) and the manifold absolute pressure (MAP) were different??

Everything up to and including 2003 used only an IAT sensor in the inlet tube.

no MAF, only the IAT after the filter and the MAP on the intake next to the rail.



wouldnt surprize me if the 6. 7's have a MAF

The CRC stuff bcpalmer mentioned is a good product, I would consider changing to filter to one of these:

The sensor is actually a dual sensor and measures intake air temperature AND intake air pressure.

Constant? As in your idle speed is now permanently 1000 RPM?



The ECM determines high idle based on the IAT reading, but the vehicle has to be stationary in park or neutral with the emergency brake on to activate. It should only come on after idling about 2 minutes (except in extreme cold, when it will go immediately to high idle after startup).

It's about 80% of the time. Outside temp doesn't matter. I've heard that the ECM on the early '03's used a "wrong" connector and that causes these problems. I had mine replaced and it's still there. Just exploring avenues.

I have used CRC electrical contact cleaner and didn't have any adverse problems, I hope I did ok

I doubt very much that cleaning the IAT sensor is going to fix the high idle problem. Something else is wrong, but it will be difficult to diagnose with all that aftermarket equipment. Be patient.

Oops! I got my posters all screwed up. You're not sayrew! I made my comment about the aftermarket stuff because I got you mixed up with him.

Anyway, the TPS would be simple to test. Any OBD-II monitor (Alex Peper, Autoengenuity, AutoTap, etc. ) can display % throttle. If it's anything other than 0. 0% at idle, there's your problem.

Wow! My Attitude shows "100%" whenever I'm going down the highway. I don't think I had it set to diplay "throttle" at idle. I'll have to look into that. Interesting.
