i have examined the arcticle on the stock fuel system from glacier diesel. has anyone tried plugging off the internal bypass(h-pipe) on the factory pump in a performance situation?

anyone have pump rate specs on said pump?

i can bring my fuel pressure to zero now with a brand new filter and the box turned off.

what im debating is dropping the tank. plugging off the bypass valve & installing an adjustable bypass regulator pre-filter.

any thoughts, suggestions let me know. if anyone has tried this and its just an excersize in futility let me know. id like to just drop that tank once & im trying to avoid the cost of a FASS, GDP, etc. system.

Blocking the return line would not be a good idea. It would cause you alot of problems and it will not give you anymore performance. The truck will kill factory fuel pumps, throw codes, leak diesel, not idel properly, and did I say blow seals?:-laf The bypass is there for low fuel demand driving. If you are dropping fp at WOT the bypass is not letting any fuel by, its just that the pump cant keep up.

With that said blocking the bypass will not get you anymore fuel than you already get at WOT. There are cheaper ways of getting fp though. ;)

i dont want to plug the return. what i essentially wanted to accomplish was take out the cheasy little spring loaded bypass valve just above the pump. then put an adjustable bypass regulator under the hood with its return line plumbed back into the existing return.

this way i could crank up the pressure to something more substantial than the 7-8psi it holds at an idle now.

i realize the factory pump has barely adequate flow for stock. this was meant as a fix to give me perhaps a little more time on the go pedal before it dropped off the gauge.
