I was mightily pleased today when I went to buy some running shoes and found some that not only fit great(12 EEEE), but were actually MANUFACTURED IN THE USA! :D They are New Balance 720's. When I pulled them out of the box to try them on, they had a nifty red tag on them: "New Balance - Committed to American Workers". Inside it says "These shoes have been produced by the New Balance team in one of our five U. S. factories". On the back it also says "New Balance has proven that high quality, width-sized athletic footwear can be made by Americans for discriminating consumers. We are proud of this fact. "

Although they contain some imported materials, at least they're made here.

I am a die-hard "Buy American" advocate, so I was very happy indeed to find a shoe that wasn't made in China, Borneo, or Bananastan. Oo. Oo.

Another nifty American product that I picked up recently - a Toro Super Recycler lawn mower. I am kicking myself for not buying one years ago, it is the easiest to use mower I have ever owned. Expensive, but mighty satisfying.

The buying experience wasn't great though. I was determined to buy one at a Mom and Pop type lawn store to help boost the traditional American economy, and boy after visiting about 5 of them it's easy to see why the "Big Box" stores are so popular. In the first 4 stores I went to I literally couldn't get anyone to bother selling me a mower! ::mad:

The 5th store was the charm, the guy there started it up in the store, showed me how everything worked, and explained the pros and cons of the various models - exactly the kind of service I expected in a traditional "we service what we sell" store.

If you have recently bought any good American made products, post 'em here to make it easy for the guys like me to seek them out. My wife will thank you (she is frequently exasperated by my "Buy American" obsession :-laf :-laf )

I just bought a Dixon Grizzly ZTR - American made - from the local Mom & Pop hardware store. Don't know where all the components are made though. But, the Dixon plant is in Nebraska.

Does Toro make a rider? I don't even want to think of walking behind a mower over 4 acres,,,

Toro owns wheel horse brand. They bought them about 10 years ago. Give or take a couple years eather way.

In my area you see a lot of wheel horse brand. The factory is in South Bend, In.

Dixie Chopper brand mowers are made in Terre Haute, In.

I like the looks of Steiner mowers.

Here are my AMERICAN MADE snow removal tools:

Wow, awesome rigs! I'd be looking forward to snowfall with that setup :D

Is that a full-size garage door behind them??

Thanks. Yes-but behind that door is my 3rd gen. The two machines you see are kept in the shed. There's never enough garage space is there?

This year was a little too much snow fall though. I think we've had over 13 feet during the season. It's snowing right now as a matter of fact.

I recently purchased a Onan-Cummins 6500 gasoline powered Generator from Costco online. Before I purchased it I saw a toll free number to talk to a Onan-Cummins Technical Representative, I believe in Indiana. I asked some questions comparing the generator to a Honda Generator. He assured me that it was much better then a Honda and that it was built right there in their own plant in Indiana, all USA made. So I ordered it and when it arrived and I opened it up, it says, made in China. P..... me off
