Well finally got around to extending my breather tube after dealing with years of grime and filth on my engine. All I did was extend the tube down to the area of my sway bar, like many have done.

I have one quick question though. When the truck is running I noticed today that there was vapor/smoke/steam coming from the end of the hose. I assume that this is fine as this is what the vent is supposed to do, right? Just never saw it before as it was in the stock location. There is no dripping, smell etc, just the vapor, which looks more like steam than anything. It is light grey to white and disapates quickly, but was coming out at a good pace/volume (enough for me to notice)

Just checking for peace of mind. If I had a video camera I would post a vid of it, but I dont.

Thanks

I have mine routed down under the cab, driver's side. I only see smoke occasionally. One of these days, someone's going to point and yell that I'm on fire :) In the stock location, the oily vapor is pretty well dispersed - all over your engine and radiator that is. I keep a sock over the bottle and change it about once a month or every fill up, which ever comes first. If the sock is ever clean after some driving, I would suspect a plugged line and replace it.

Opps just realized that I posted this in wrong area. Should be in the 24v engine forum not products. If someone can move it that would be great.

Thanks for the reply Boon.

The smoke kind of reminds me of the guys that are sled pulling and have the hose routed straight down. Smoke comes out of theirs sooooo hard that it looks like water flowing out!

I've always gotten some 'stuff' out especially in cold weather. If you're rerouting BEE careful as I've been told if water/condensate freezes in that tube you can have BIG PROBLEMS

Been there done that. Whatever you do don't run a real long hose when driving all day in sub-zero temps. I had mine running clear to the back axle through an oil catch tank and the 3/4" hose froze solid some place in the middle maybe after driving for two days where the temp never got above zero. I was lucky in that it didn't fully freeze shut until I was sitting idling or I may have blown gaskets out some place. What did happen was that it blew 7 qts. of oil out the dipstick tube until I lost oil pressure, which completely coated the engine on that side, not a pretty sight. I read of another guy on here that the same thing happened to and he told of someone else who left their truck idling but wasn't with the truck and this happened and ruined the engine after it blew its oil out. The little vapors you are seeing is normal.

I only extended the tube by about 1. 5 to 2 feet nearly straight down. Angle is only slightly less than straight down with a very gradual bend to get to the sway bar so I am not too worried about freezing.

Since no one has posted that the "smoke" is a problem, I guess that I wont worry about it and chaulk it up as normal vapor, just now noticeable on my truck due to the extended tube.

If anyone thinks differently let me know.

Thanks
