On my way into town Sunday morning, this car pulled in behind me at an intersection. Soon he was right on my tail. So I pulled way from him and he came back on my bumper. So I pulled away again and he did the same. I had to slow WAY down for the RR track crossing and he came right back up on my bumper so I floored the thing after the crossing and left him behind.

When I got to church he pulled in behind me and parked in the lot. I was ignorant of who it was untill I met this guy inside the chruch. He informed me he was trying to listen to my truck's exhaust by following close, but I kept pulling ahead. He told me after we crossed the RR tracks he "matted" his car's accelerator to keep up but couldn't after we hit 40 MPH and that his car ( a Buick ) is pretty quick.

Had I simply known he wanted to listen to the exhaust, I would have slowed down or offered him a ride:rolleyes:

BTW, I was driving my wife's truck and yes, she found out. :-{}

lol great story! Tailing you so he could hear the exhaust!

Sometimes when I'm accelerating on a long a stretch of road with barricades along the passenger side and passenger window down I can hear the exhaust note clearer. Also, idling at a stoplight with barricades on the driver side you can hear the engine clearer. Its awesome! You can't beat that sound. :D

Your wife has a Dodge Cummins too?

I love the sound of our exhaust driving next to a barrier wall too! Same thing with driving through a tunnel, I always seem to be going faster than when I entered:-laf Don't even get me started with parking garages... . :D I also noticed that if someone is in my blindspot on the passenger side I can hear that they are there from my exhaust echoing off their car, anyone else notice that?

I'm new to the straight exhaust and It is great sound. I love it! I really like the turbo hiss when ya get off the go pedal!

I noticed that as well JFlagg. We'll call it a safety feature!

Before I traded in my gasser, I used to lower my windows anytime a diesel pickup was within earshot. I still do it, even for PowerChokes.

I love the sound of no exhaust. That way you can sneak away from people before they know you're even moving. Doesn't attract cops either.

Don't you mean "no sound from the exhaust"? ;)

I know what you mean, but I'm not putting my muffler back on! :-laf

Yes I have, usually accompanied by the sound of someone pitchin' a ***** about that "smoky truck", "smelly truck", etc. Aww heck, you guys know the drill!! :-laf :p

Oh yes I ususlly wave my hands in front of my face in a gesture to show that I'm clearing out the smoke, I cough and gag, etc when someone nearby starts up an oil burner... . esp in the marina when a diesel boat fires up. Always good for a :-laf :-laf .

My son's 05, his 94 and my nephew's 98 each have a unique exhaust sound due to of course different "performance" (aka noisy) systems. When they go by the house (I live on a state highway) they get on it and I can always tell who's going by. (if there's a trail of smoke it's my son's 94 for sure).

My wife says "how do you know who it is?". I say "I just do. " :-laf :-laf

Ys, my wife drives a 1990 reg cab first gen 2WD / Auto LE :)

His and hers thats cool. ;)

Pulled up to a stoplight next to a guy in a compact truck and with a look similar to irritation or disgust he rolled up his window. :-laf The diesel smell from the engine isn't strong. Maybe he didn't like the music coming from my engine. I figure maybe Cummins made the newer, quieter engines more for the the other guys on the road because I love the sound. :-laf :-laf

ROFL:-laf

I hope you didn't smoke him out too much when you stepped on it. Kinda embarrassing excessively smoking out a fellow parishioner. :) I accidentally filled a friends car with visible air the other day as they turned behind me.

LMAO Scott. From what I've seen you like applying the brakes and fuel pedal at the same time, not so effective when wanting to go fast ;)

Carl

No brake applictaion this time around. The smoke never cleared. It was black the entire climb up the hill from the RR crossing to the city limits.
