Friend wants a new truck 06 or 07?

I wonder if an 07 is the best choice. He has a vehicle allowance from a job, and is looking at a new diesel. If there are new 06's left somewhere, is this a better choice?

'06s and '07s with the 5. 9 are pretty much identical trucks-only differences are tailights, headlights, side badges, dash/door trim (silver on '07s instead of fake woodgrain) and the valve cover; as far as I know thats it...

Either is going to be a good truck if you can find a truck with a 5. 9. I think the only difference from the 06 to 07 is the outside badging. But I am not sure either. Scotty

I thought the '07 required ULSD and had the particulate filter and such.

This would limit the use of anything other than pump fuel.

Is this even remotely correct? I know nothing of the newer trucks, as I plan to drive the '01 into the ground and then throw the motor into something else. :-laf

Some 07 have 5. 9's until they use up the extra engines built before Jan 07, the filter is only on the 6. 7.

Go with the '07 5. 9L - no EGR, no particulate filter, and you can still use LSD.

There are great deals to be had - I got mine for $8k off sticker.

Identical to maintain and operate. Pick whats available based on models & options you like, which year it is makes no difference.

He has a camper, but not real big, and will haul some stuff in the bed, but I think most of the time it would run empty.
