I have BD 155 injectors now and am not real impressed with them. I want to go with the Mach 4 or Mach 5 injector or something of equal quality/caliber.

I see that F1 has Mach 5 injectors but I see few who are running them. Most of what is here is all Mach 4 or smaller or mach 6.

Does anyone run the 5's and how do you like them. I have plenty of turbo for them as my 155s barely make the silver 62 work hard. I do not like how bad the BD 155's lope "Maybe I have a bad one thats not up to pressure" and they are real dirty down low.

Do the mach 4 or 5 lope? I want better Dyno numbers also, I am ok with my current hp but would like to see my torque in the 1100 range.

Any opinions are welcome.

My local BD salesman flat out told me that BD's injectors are junk. He says that Lucas makes both them and edge's jammer injectors and nozzles. Whether theres any truth to that, I don't know. I helped a guy put some edge jammer nozzles (125hp) in his truck, and his had a lope to it at idle too.

I run Mach 5's and they are SMOKEY!!!! too much in fact now the truck unloaded on kill doesnt get over 1250 EGT but i know a guy with MACH 6's that dont smoke as bad and MACH 3. 8's are 150HP and smoke is very controllable. I think I am going to a 3. 8 (towing 4) because the smoke is totally uncontrollable with the SMARTY turned up. Although I did put the smarty on 8 the edge on 3 and the truck got sideways doing 50MPH when the TQ hit lockup and my wife almost pooped her pants!!!lol Even though I love the power I really need to step it down

Thanks for the info. Maybe the 5 is not for me either. I may just go with the 4.

Looking at your sig we are almost identical. Have you dynoed your setup yet?

Where does everyone find info about the off sized mach's like the 3. 8? On his site it is just straight numbers 1-7 except for the 1. 6.

What is the difference between the 3. 8 and the 4 if they are both 150 hp injectors?

Mach 4's idle is very smooth. They can get smokey if you get on it much below 1500 at less than about 10 psi boost. Other than that they clean up better than my old M1's running under my twins. With the TST on just a puff of grey smoke between gears.

FWIW the lopey idle might no be injectors. My old VP44 did that before the 0216 came up. Smooth as silk on the new pump.

Nope, the lope started the day the injectors were put in about 6 months ago.

I have close to 10k miles on them now. No codes.

My Mach 4's also idled very smooth until I installed the hotrod pump. Definately changed the sound of the truck! Anyways, I've been considering going to a 5 or 6 and selling my 4's.

I would also like to hear some opinions of guys running the 5's or 6's...

I have quite a lope I think its the hot rod pump it is also very smokey, it can be controlled if you are extra easy on the throttle... George

I'm running 5's and they idle very smooth, no lope at all. They can be driven pretty clean, especially with a Comp. With a 62/14, I could drive down the road without a haze. Although, I could really belch out the smoke with the CaTCHER fueling so hard down low if I wasn't careful.

I've thought about going to some 4's because the 5's are really more than my HO pump can use. I was going to trade for some 4's but the other guy decided to stay where he was at. I'd still be willing to trade.

Based on your sig, you would be happiest with Mach 4's. To take advantage of 5's and larger you really need a bigger turbo than a 62mm.

You have to talk with Don or one of his vendors about the off sizes. I've run the 3. 8's & they are super. They aren't much different than the 4's but they help keep EGT's & smoke down for towing.

3. 8's are for towing and may not be a true 150. I hit 565HP on #2 and 614 on NOS with my setup.

In an effort to help fight global warming:-laf

I think that the Mach 4 will be the better fit for me, as this is still a daily cruiser and work horse yet, play toy in spare time. :p

Thanks for the help and replys on the subject.

Mach 5 - Best Bang for Your Buck

I have run Mach 5s for about 1 1/2 years. I've been very happy with them - smooth as stock and I can drive the truck smoke-free with a 66mm Silver Bullet. But when I want to, I can lay down a cloud. Every bit of the smoke cleans up at WOT.

I think the Mach 5s are overlooked. They're not as smoky as some of these guys have made them out to be, and they are also the best deal of any F1 injector.

You pay $5. 00 per advertised HP for the Mach 5s. Conversely, you're paying $6. 00 per advertised HP for the Mach 4s.

But as Doug said above - you need to accept the fact that a 62mm turbo won't keep them happy.

I've got my Mach 5s on the TDR Classifieds right now because I want to move up to a larger size. I'm feeling like this Silver Bullet could use a bit more fuel. :D

HeavyHauler, my original offer still stands on your Mach 5's ;) If you accept it, maybe BILLVO could buy my Mach 4's and we would all be happy :)

My silver 62 cleans up the smoke just fine, its when u are under the turbo that they are so smokey. A bigger turbo would only prolong th etime you are spitting out smoke as you are waiting for the boost to come up. So for instance you leave a stoplight with a cop behind you, must be EXTREMELY care ful not to smoke. No turbo will help this situation when you are not making boost yet

elandon1201, your other option (given that scenario) would be to leave a black cloud behind you big enough that the Cop can't find you once it is gone. LOL

:-laf :-laf and I could . I felt really bad on Sunday I was coming home from my moms (Mothers Day) a 67 chevelle gets in front of me so I get excited, a viper pulls out in front of him, I can't beleive it. There are two bikes behind me and I really feel badd for what I am about to do. They slow down to about 10MPH and I get behind the Viper and spool the turbo, (poor Bikes) they take off viper walks away from the chevelle I am neck and neck with a bigblock chevelle and starting to pull away and about 3 lengths behind the Viper. The guy in the chevelle liked to have pooped his pants!!!:-laf

I was speaking along the lines of EGT control, but your statement is otherwise correct. But I wouldn't go so far as to say that I have to be "extremely" careful to not smoke any. It's just a matter of learning how to drive your particular setup.
