Ford SuperDuty winner on Survivor says "No, thanks"

I'm not a fan of the show "Survivor", but it was on TV last night as I walked through the room. There was a weekly challenge going on, and I saw a 2008 SuperDuty dually in the background as the prize, so I sat down to watch.

The winner ended up being this older Asian guy named "Yau-Man". Upon winning the truck, he promptly made a deal with another player to give him the SuperDuty in exchange for getting immunity later in the game.

I laughed out loud and said to my wife "That's one smart guy. " She said, "Why, because he might get immunity later on?", and I replied "No, because he knew enough about the new Ford PowerStroke to not want to own one!". :-laf

I really hate those "reality" shows, but that would have been worthwhile to see.

I would have to say I agree with TWilkening, might not be what I want, but the value of it would still be a good prize. Plus, I think the book value is more than the truck I would get anyway... . leaving some extra for upgrades.

I wouldn't trade it, I would sell it outright! Plenty of ferd boys out there who would jump at the chance to own the truck from survivor. Then I would take the money and go buy a Dodge, you know the dealer is going to screw you on trade in anyway! :-laf

Yep, I would refuse it too. There's another thing to consider... Federal Income Tax. You can bet there will be a IRS Form 1099 sent to the IRS with your Social Security number on it showing the full list price of that truck... $40,000 to $50,000 income without any the cash to pay the tax which means YOU dig up the cash to pay the IRS! If you live in a state with income taxes, more $$ to the tax collector.

One of the MANY reasons we need the FairTax.



I would take the truck and trade it. With the current (insane) tax system we have, the tax is deducted for the value of the trade in. I would trade it in on a truck for my company, which would then be able to be written off on taxes (another complication of our current absurd tax code. )
