This is still America, and I'm not going to push one for Spanish, 2 for French, 3 for English, either to talk to someone on the phone or entera credit card number at a store. It may be a one man stand, but I'm sick and tired of this country catering to illegals.



First time was at Radio Shack the other day and I left about $90. 00worth of chinese crap on the counter in Ohio and walked out. If a large number of people would let companies know it is unacceptable way to do business, maybe we can take English speaking America back.

The Bird Feeder.

I bought a bird feeder. I hung it on my back porch and filled it with seed. Within a week we had hundreds of birds taking advantage of the continuous flow of free and easily accessible food. But then the birds started building nests in the boards of the patio, above the table, and next to t he barbecue.



Then came the poop. It was everywhere: on the patio tile, the chairs, the table... everywhere. Then some of the birds turned mean: They would dive bomb me and try to peck me even though I had fed them out of my own pocket. And others birds were boisterous and loud: They sat on the feeder and squawked and screamed at all hours of the day and night and demanded that I fill it when it got low on food.



After a while, I couldn't even sit on my own back porch anymore. I took down the bird feeder and in three days the birds were gone. I cleaned up their mess and took down the many nests they had built all over the patio.



Soon, the back yard was like it used to be... quite, serene and no one demanding their rights to a free meal.



Now let's see... our government gives out free food, subsidized housing, free medical care, free education and allows anyone born here to be an automatic citizen. Then the illegal’s came by the tens of thousands. Suddenly our taxes went up to pay for free services; small apartments are housing 5 families: you have to wait 6 hours to be seen by an emergency room doctor: you child's 2nd grade class is behind other schools because over half the class doesn't speak English: Corn Flakes now come in a bilingual box; I have to press "one" to he ar my bank talk to me in English, and people waving flags other than "Old Glory" are squawking and screaming in the streets, demanding more rights and free liberties.



Maybe it's time for the government to take down the bird feeder. Oo.

Some people wish to do business in their own native language.



Catering to illegals is not doing enough background checking. If a business is not checking background information thoroughly before hiring, they are catering to illegals. Offering a tele service in different languages is not catering to illegals. I'm sorry.

When I was growing up the language of America was english. When you went to a store the clerks and customers spoke it. Now you go to a store and there are people talking in all different langauges. I understand that is the langauge you spoke where you came from, but now you are HERE! Speak English!

My wife was in a bad mood one day and some foriegner cut in line ahead of her. She said something to him and he told her she should be at home! She tore him a new A-hole, then he switched to his langauge, arabic or something. She was going to light into him again and his buddy, (same heritage) told him to shut up! She felt better after that.

When I was an exchange student in Germany I wasn't given the oppurtunity to do homework in English, I had to do it in German. Later, I was stationed in Germany for five years. They have kind of the same problem over there with the Turks, we do with illegals here. However, when I called somewhere to do business there wasn't a press 1 for German, 2 for Turkish, 3 for English. You had to speak German, period. Same went for France, Spain, or Italy when I was in those countries. Why is it only the US that caters to the Spanish speaking? Your in the US speak English!

With the amnesty program that's going to happen, English won't even be a choice. This country is going to heck in a handbasket. We cater to those who are not supposed to be here because we don't want to hurt there feelings (or lose their votes!) I am so furious that I can't even think of the words to say it in a civilized manner. With the thought process behind this amnesty program, if enough of us robbed banks, it would be ok after a while. After all, we just want to have a better life. If lots of people do it, it's easier to change the law than enforce it. #@$%!

Merrick - - - You don't have to worry - - In Laredo, Spanish is the first language. I've been in the UP yard and watched 1000+ illegals get of the auto train from Mexico every night. Won't be long before Larago becomes part of Mexico. With congress's blessing!

Now, don't get me wrong. I dislike illegals as much as the next guy, but, speaking in a different language does not make you an illegal. America is known as the melting pot, where lady liberty opens her arms to all.

Speaking in English is not mandatory for living in America, neither is writing, or reading it. I have a few relatives that would need exported if you had to be able to read and write in English to stay here.


I have had problems when other countries had not catered to me when I was there. I can only speak english, however, a few times while I have been in mexico, I was able to call a place of business and was asked, 1 for espanol, 2 for english, etc. a Godsend in my situation. I was just visiting, I am not a citizen of mexico, yet, I was catered to. I was not an illegal. However, if I had decided to live down there, I would hold myself up to becoming a citizen and pay taxes, and make sure I was there legally.

I half feel that native mexicans come to america just to use our American services, and to skip paying for them.

There needs to be more background checking when hiring employees, or buying houses than the current system enforces. The government themselves are trying to build a fence to keep "illegals" out, when they are doing nothing about it, when a bank account is opened, when they apply for medicaid, or when they are trying to use any other government offered service.

Speaking another language does not make you an illegal. This is the same type of thinking that we are battling overseas. "If you aren't like me, you don't belong" attitude.

You're right Merrick. Speaking a different language doesn't make that person an illegal. My point was simply where does the phone and paperwork in two different languages stop? Do we need to cater to the Russian, Chinese, Vietnamese, Africans, etc? Some parts of the county there are larger populations of these groups then there are of Spanish speaking.



I'm a third generation American. My grandparents came from Poland. They spoke Polish in the house, but outside the house they did their very best to assimilate into this country. As do thousands of other immigrants every year.



The phone thing aside, what justice are we doing to the immgrant's children when they don't have to learn English to get along in this country. They can do all their homework in Spanish, and fill out government forms in Spanish. Then when they graduate, they can't get a decent paying job because they never learned to speak English.

Naw, pretty soon it will be us who can't get a decent job since we can't speak spanish. I don't think anyone really believes that you should HAVE to speak english to be here. I don't care what you speak. But don't expect anyone to bend over backwards to help you since you didn't take the time to help youself first by learning the local language.



I wish they would shoot EVERY illegal coming across. They are stealing from us people!



One of the things I love about the industry I'm in is that its a law you must know english. I'm in aviation and the FARs (Federal Aviation Regulations) states that to hold an airmans license (pilot, mechanic, dispatcher) you MUST be able to READ, WRITE, SPEAK, & UNDERSTAND english.



Now that my blood has boiled I'm going to go do something to cool down.
