Finally got the truck up on the rollers again after the last few mods. Last run with only the Comp delivered 311 HP and low 800's Tq - I have since added 1. 6 injectors, a 4 inch exhaust - and the Smarty. Bottom line was, I gained a best of almost exactly 100 HP with 414 HP - and torque maxed out at 972.

The strange part (to me) was that on the 3 dyno runs I made, I use the Smarty on #8, and the comp on 3x3, 4x4, and 5x5 - and the HP on all three runs were nearly identical in HP - the 4x4 run edged out the others by about *one* HP, and about 3 HP was all that separated the lowest from the highest!

I really had expected a LITTLE more power difference between those settings!

I had wanted to try one run with the Smarty set back to stock programming and the Comp on 5x5 for a direct comparison with my last dyno session, and also to see what the Smarty was adding to the mix - but the dyno guys were working real hard at keeping the trucks moving, so I settled on the above 3 choices - truck was in 6th gear for all 3 runs, and it was a Dynojet dyno - and a NW Bombers event.

SO, I ended up with 414 HP, and 972 Tq - not too bad for the mods I have on the truck - and certainly all I plan in the way of power upgrades for the time being...

I post this purely for the benefit of others with similar mods - it sorta helps to compare notes and see how one truck measures up with a few others similarly modded.

good numbers ... . strange for the comp to have the same numbers... was the torque the same???i should be close to your numbers now as i dynoed befor the turbo and smarty

i enjoy your posts!!!!

I'm not planning any more mods, unless I win the Helix 2 cam giveaway from POWER BY POOLE.

I'd like to try different settings of the smarty and with and without the banks fueling. I'd like to know how much she puts down on SW3 with the injectors, that is what I tow at.

Gary,
Did you notice any difference in the HP or Trq curve with the Smarty and the Catcher settings? I am curious to see what/where the torque management holds our trucks back?

You should have run Comp on 5x4, as others have posted 5x5 falls off in power. SNOKING

This weekend at our dyno day in NC , Brandon Burress (2001 Drag Comp , Jammer 5's , AFE Stage 1, Con FE, 5" straight exhaust)
Made Two runs which I'll post later.
The smarty on 8 Lost aprox. 37 HP

My Truck Fell Of on Fuel only 5x5 by about 7 HP vs 5x4 but made 12 more with 5x5 and water. My new best number of 638! 8's and Nitrous next with a cam and bottom end work ! :D

The smarty stack. . With edge comp or drag will dyno higher numbers on the lower smarty settings. I know the smarty on 8 stacked with a comp box will drop about 30-35hp BUT you cann't beat the bottom end power of the Smarty on the street.

Lucas i had a great time man! Thanks for the steak dinner. . but i got a little to much SUN and i'm felling it today. .

Dunno - as flat as it was from 3x3 on - and actually LOWEST on 5x5, it's hard to say. The dyno operator only printed out the highest run results, so don't have the others to compare with - but sorta doubt they varied any more than the HP did. Sure wish I had more time/runs to experiment - I have little doubt fine-tuning settings would have delivered a better HP and Tq peak somewhere along the line - but not really disappointed with what I got - just curious!

If I get on the dyno again at some point, I'll try running with just the Comp, and see what happens. As it is, I have way more power than I can use or need in my normal operation - and usually disconnect the Comp's pump wire (EZ mode), and run the Comp on 1x1 (3x3 sometimes when RV towing) and the Smarty on setting #2 - absolutely NO problems pulling our 5th wheel over the local 5000 foot passes - but then, if I dynoed at those settings, they MIGHT not be all that far off from yesterday's runs! ;):-laf

Here's a printout of yesterday's run - the torque was a sharper peak than I would have expected with the Smarty - altho' the amount above 800 was good in relation to RPM - the HP peak WAS decently flat over a good RPM spread

ANYWAY - good comparison material and a fun day! ;)
