Here I am

Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 400 miles is all I get on a full tank of fuel...is that normal?

I love it, can't think of any dislikes! Wish I would have gotten the A2 though, I just had too hard of a time justifying the cost.

80 mph is mighty rough on fuel milage. Try it one time driving 65-68 and see what you get. I have gotten over 500 on a tank pulling a trailer and 2 atv's on it. Over 600 on several tanks empty. I have drw and 3. 73 gears.

The A2 has gps, backup camera, touch screen, and displays up to six parameters at a time. The Attitude only displays four at a time.

MIleage ???

I'd sure like to know how to get over 20 mpg. My 96 is a consistent 13mpg no matter how I drive it. I put in a TSTcam plate and didn't change the mileage a bit. It did however increase the power and smoke dramatically ! :D Probably the best investment I could have made. I did go slightly larger on my tires but only to 265 75 16. Not much taller. That may throw my calculations off a little but not THAT much. One thing that I haven't done yet is to set my injector timing. Hopefully that'll put a few more miles between fuel stops.

I know 13-14 mpg isn't absolutely horrible I don't guess, but I hear all these high mpg numbers from other diesel owners. All my mods are in my signature, the truck gets right at 400 miles on the trip odometer each time before I have to fill up. This is about a 70/30 mix of highway/around town driving. I set the cruise at 80mph on the interstate which puts the RPM's at 1900ish with with 3. 54's and 35" tall tires. I have all the tires at 40psi, just had an alignment, air and fuel filters are new. Any ideas?

Also I've tried running the Comp on 1X5 also and the mileage doesn't seem to change any at all.

Geeeezzzz, I bet if you back off to around 65 mph your fuel mileage will go to nearly 20. With every MPH increase the coefficient of drag is squared. Large frontal area of our trucks makes them very susceptible. If you check out other posts on the website you'll see that anything above 70 mph results in significantly reduced fuel economy

I put on the same size tires. I watched the mile markers on the interstate and saw that when I went 100 miles the odometer only showed 96. You could say 4% so when I calculate MPG I add 4% to the miles traveled and assume that I am as accurate as possible. If I go 400 miles I add 16 and divide the gallons into 416. My Dad always said Liars figure but figures don't lie.

I am truly glad that I'm not the only one with poor MPG 13-16 at best (babying the truck at 68-70 MPH about 1830 RPM). I have read all the articles and post about great MPG and thought I had a bad truck. I commute about 80 miles a day combination driving. Does any of the aftermarket add-ons really help MPG?

My mileage has slipped from a pretty dependable 18 mpg to about 16. I have actually swithced to a narrower tire (235-85r-16) cleaned my IAT and checked everthing else I can think of. I am about to blame the ULSD. If any body has other ideas I would love to hear them.

Yes, when I was running the Edge EZ it got better initially on level 1. Then I adjusted my driving style to compensate for the increased power.

Yes, with the Smarty I have seen the same increase on Level 9:eek: and the same decrease when my driving style changed. The really great thing about Smarty is it has Level 1 with much added timing with no fueling adjustment in the ECM. I estimate that I have seen an increase, and I have to try really hard to get it to Smoke. I attribute that to the injectors I'm running. The up side is on the lower level I am reverting back to a more conservative driving style with a corresponding increase in mpg.

BHAF, how can more air hurt. :-laf

I'm thinking about taking off the bug sheild, I know that has to be draging the mpg down. :{

my 99 2wd 3500 with 5spd has a 7-mo average of 18. 3mpg. Best is 19. 1, worst is 17. 3. With the 35 gal tank, my low fuel light comes on around 8 gallons left.

Truck has 230k with 31's and 3. 54's. During the week its a errand runner. One day a week is a 3 hour each way 150 mile round trip commute with 30mph moving average (lots of traffic). At least with the USGear Underdrive I can split gears to keep the RPMs in the 1800 range sweet spot.

Running Banks Ottomind, 4" exhaust, upgrade downpipe, stock turbo, stock VP44 as far as I can tell, stock injectors for all I know, and I like to run it at 75-80 in the freeway around 2100-2300 RPM.

The aFe Stage I with Torque Tube seems to have added about 0. 5mpg to my per tank hand calc'd values.

I could get better MPG, but I can't keep my foot out of it. Cruise from home to LA pulled the 19mpg, but I was running at 80mph. Had I slowed down, I likely could have hit 20 or more hopefully.

Wondering why would you go to that tire size?
