My truck was stolen out of my driveway a few nights ago, and I had Catcher software installed on it. Can someone send me Bob's contact info so I can see about unlocking it to sell it (if that's possible).

Thanks... Scott

Scott are you going to buy another truck? If you need help give me a call on Tuesday.

Sorry to hear about your loss. Thieves suck! #@$%!

Man that royally stinks! Sorry to hear that. I hope the thieves suffer form Gonorrhea.

Sorry for your loss, it's really stinks... . i had mine stolen last year... . get gap insurance for the next one... and look into the window etc.....

If i get my 06 stolen, i get it paid off in full and get $2k from gap and $5k from window etc..... so i make $7k to put toward goodies for the next one... .

Granted, i loss my rear on my 05 when it was stolen... as it was 7 months old and i didnt have gap ins... .

Excuse my ignorance. What is "gap" and "window" Thanks for the education. :-laf

Gap insurance is something typically offered by the lender for a fee (around $200-$800)... . in the event of a theft, it ensures that you are covered for what you owe on the vehicle... . not "market value"

Example: My 05 i owed $38k on (7 months old)..... market value was $32k (the insurance company determines market value using kbb, comps,... )... . so you loose $6k... . and have to go buy a new car..... if your car is 5 years old, it's less of an issue, but the first year or two you're paying for taxes / depreciation / ... . had i had gap insurance, the insurance would have paid out the full $38k.

Window Etc is where they put the vin number or every window..... it deter's thiefs becasue they cant "remove" or change the VIN... . and they'd have to replace all the glass in the vehicle... . they're so confident in it they offer the $5k... . this cost $200 at my dealer.

Make sense?

Hey Scott - SORRY to hear that your truck was stolen. I hope ALL comes out well for you. You know, gonorrhea is too good for thieves - they need slow torture, their thieving hands cut off or heads decapitated!!!!!

Truck theives

Sorry for your loss. It'll probably take thirty days for the insurance to reimburse you. Start gathering sale comps for you to contest the reimbursement. Typically, they'll try and low ball you. If you finance another truck, seek out a credit union and get a "pre-qualified" voucher. A dealer will give you five days to pay them back. Credit unions will sell you"gap insurance" at a fraction of what the dealer charges. I declined the factory security system and just went with the sentry key and now I'm getting the "eeeby jeebies" about the safety of my truck. I ordered one of the last '07 5. 9 6-speeds and I know this thing would be the hit of the tomato fields in Baja. It's got a popup cabover on it and would make a grade A alien hauler.

6.7's and Pemex.

There's one thing about the 6. 7's coming out. If a thief takes it to Mexico, two tanks of Pemex high sulfer should render it useless. I don't know if cutting off the p. f. will let it run down there or not. Hopefully the computer will shut it down. :)

This might just be my favorite part of the whole deal... Get screwed by thieves on one end and by a service that I pay for on the other. I am preparing for the battle that is sure to ensue with my insurance company. Is it best to just gather up ads for similarly equipped trucks in the area?

Thanks all for your enthusiastic responses.

Scott

One way to avoid gap insurance. . pay cash!!! That way, you are way ahead if something should happen to your rig!

Buy replacement cost on truck thru your insurance company. Truck needs to be a year old or less. No worries then... .

This is what we do, we pay the few extra bucks every year for replacement insurance, up here our policy includes the amount you owe as part of the replacement.
