Off Roading dodge pulls out ford story

In an announcement earlier, Gale Banks was nominated for SEMA Board of Directors. This prestigious nomination is a huge leap in the direction of the diesel after market

Gale started the diesel aftermarket performance industry in 1982 by creating a turbo system for GM diesel pickup trucks. It later became the GM dealer-specified turbo option. He also built a limited run of Banks Twin-Turbo GT Pontiac Firebirds and Chevrolet Camaros—super cars the tuner car industry would later emulate. Gale championed clean diesel power with components that exceeded tough national and California diesel smoke opacity benchmarks. Today, he’s working with DaimlerChrysler in the prototype performance diesel concept vehicle program.

Vote Gale Banks

Gearhead[gîr-hed] noun. A person with a strong interest in anything mechanical or technological, specifically anything automotive.

A hot rodder, off-shore world champion and land-speed racer, Gale has a passion for engines that has led to numerous speed records over the years. In 1960, Banks set his first speed record (189 mph) with a modified ‘53 Studebaker. In the ’80s, his World’s Fastest Passenger Car (283 mph) and World’s Fastest Pickup Truck (210 mph) shattered records. And in the ’90s, the Teague/Welch/Banks streamliner became the World’s Fastest Single Engine Automobile at 432 mph. In 2002, he broke his own record for the World’s Fastest Pickup with his Sidewinder® Dakota diesel (222 mph). Now he’s taking diesel into road racing and drag racing.

Engineer[en-juh-neer] noun. A person trained and skilled in the design, construction, and use of engines or machines, or in any of various branches of engineering.

Since selling his first engine in 1958, Banks has never stopped looking for—and finding—ways to extract more power from an engine. From his automotive and marine engines of the ’60s, to the first Power Pack® engineered power system in the ’70s, Banks has fathered the diesel performance industry. Along the way, he has helped countless owners of trucks and motorhomes achieve greater power and efficiency. He’s worked with Buick, GM, the US Navy, and even Jay Leno in the design and construction of vehicle and engine solutions

Entrepeneur[ahn-truh-pruh-nur] noun. A person who organizes and manages any enterprise, especially a business, usually with considerable initiative and risk. Companies traditionally don’t start when the founder is a teenager, but then, Gale has never claimed to be traditional. At 16, he opened his first shop—CP Auto & Marine—in Lynwood, CA. His business moved to San Gabriel, CA in the 60s, and later to his current 16-acre campus in Azusa. His entrepreneurial spirit also led him to start up numerous programs through the years, from becoming the GMC dealer-specified turbo option in the ‘80s to recently being named the exclusive worldwide distributor of GM Duramax engines.

Leader

[lee-der] noun. A person who rules or guides or inspires others.

Gale’s reputation in the automotive and marine engine industries provided many opportunities for him to guide and inspire others. Examples include consulting on the JPL/Cal Tech Engine Program, developing a hydrogen-burning internal combustion engine, and building prototype turbocharged Volvo engines as a consultant on NHTSA’s Large Research Safety Vehicle project. He taught graduate-level turbo-engine design at General Motors Institute, and is currently on the Automotive X-Prize Foundation advisory board.

Innovator

[in-uh-vey-ter] noun. Someone who helps to open up a new line of research or technology or art; pioneer.

Why should We go down to your Level??, You will just Beat us Up with Experience. .

Wow, you guys take this a little too seriously, if you hate Banks then don't buy thier products, I have a Six-Gun and it is great, and they have great customer service.

You may wish to keep score, because most assuredly the next few post will be from the “tell a lie and tell it often enough and it must be true “crowd

Funny, but these few vocal people that will post on any thread involving, Gale Banks Engineering, these very people feel the need to minimize theirs or their favorite venders inadequacies by spreading untruths about a leader in diesel engineering, and passing off these myths off as the facts.

These same people will proclaimed on this and other forums that GBE‘s product is less then theirs. They will spread the untruth that the product cost more then it should. Building product that make responsible performance gains while absolutely protects the investment of the average truck owner cost . This level of product quality requires enormous investment in R&D, and testing, so if it cost less, maybe it took less to bring it to market and that is what it is worth

These people represent a very small percentage of the people on these forums . This nomination is a huge opportunity for the diesel world. Gale Banks Engineering is clearly an overwhelming principal in any field they choose.

To the few that feel that I’m a cheerleader, for Gale Banks. I do wear Gales Colors. I am here because I as most in the Hot Roding world read about the exploits of Gale Banks growing up. I truly respect the man and what he stands for, the icon he has become in most every performance circles. The move to Drive for this team was a easy one, to become part of a historic effort in diesel motorsports.

The truck I built was the first diesel powered truck in the 9’s , the first in the 8’s with a diesel truck ,and currently the fastes around in the exact same state aswhen I left it to my good freind . I am confident thatmy new ride and the team that Gale has assembled will let me be the first in the 7’s as well

Gale Banks Engineering is very impressive and makes some very awesome products and advancements for diesel trucks. They just don't sell ANY of them, thats the bad part.

They sell a lot, no question there. But the real question, being in the competition forum and all is:

How Many races/pulls/anything does banks (products) win?

Here's the answer:

NONE, Zip, Zilch, Noda, nothing

Not one truck with a bank programmer has won anything that I'm aware of. Please correct me if someone beat a ricer at a local track with a 6gun. :-laf

Short of the top speed diesel dakota (2003) They have NOTHING current and it's all FUD (fear uncertainty and doubt) for the past 4 years since I've been reading and curious about diesel motor sports.

Looking on the main webpage they still boast the freaking 1980's Firebird.

WE all keep hearing about this Type D and Type R. When will we See something? The Type R has a video beating a bunch of ricers, I sure hope so with 550hp. But what about the type D?!?!?

(side note about the dakota: wouldn't it be all that much better if it was done with a full 3/4 or 1ton chassis? Anyone can stuff a 454 in a Geo metro... ... )

His kits are good for those that don't do much of their own work, or for those that don't want the hassle of putting a "kit" together.

When I was still making about the same power as a PowerPack, I did it with about $1000 less than his kit cost. I'm past that now, but still haven't had any reliability problems at all. Working flawlessly. :D Sure, the transmission was replaced, but it couldn't handle the stock power anyways.

Some of the most powerful but still reliable hp is available from GBE. The Six Gun PDA is a value in that it, combining a tuner, gauge package, along with a mini data logger. Can more power be made, sure, power is the easy part in the diesel performance industry, every Tom Doc and Harry can make power. But reliable power that the average diesel truck owner wants to increased power, fuel economy and the ability to adjust certain parameters in a little more difficult. You commit of the white paper comparison, , but where is the rebuttal.

The people that don’t like GBE , have very specious motivation to attempt to spread absolute myth about the products that GBE ships to a majority of the buyers of diesels performance product. Look at their signature, doesn’t look like they have every owned a Banks product

One more thing they will immediately make any one of these threads a Banter thread to try and keep the truth from the average public

Here is a look at some of the winning and record programs that Gale Banks Engineering

a little different ,

azkissin' aside, id have to say that a movement toward national recognition of the diesel performance sport is great for us as a whole and will ultimately benefit the ENTIRE industry. Why pee on an opportunity just cuz the guy doin it isnt the favorite of the comp forum? He isnt trying to be either, his product seems to be aimed a similar crowd as Saleen,Roush, ect. Can u do it for less ? Many do, but most truck owners would rather buy a proven kit and have it installed. they also dont often read/post on these sites as they are happy with better than stock and dont need a world record grocery getter. I dont use GBE products, but also wont look a gift horse in the mouth , if he's the only diesel guy nominated hes got my vote. Or maybe the rest of you haters will vote for a drift company/NOPI guy!

comp,

I've said a few words about that "whitepaper" in the other thread about it. In a nutshell, I think I put a few holes in it and all you came back with was "you are just a hater". meh.

See said "whitepaper" about myths. Seems hypocritical to me to say that Comp.

I've had my issues with the Edge stuff, but it's 2+ years old, originally bought of ebay and they are still fixing things out of warranty for free. I do not recall anyone saying that about Banks...
