BigDaddy's truck looks pretty good. There was a thread a year, maybe a year and and half ago where a guy had one of the best setups I've seen.

look at the last picture on this

better pictures of it on this thread

I'm moving the spare and doing tanks to get my fuel up to 85 gallons. I have a doubledoor Caravan shell on the back, so I like the offset on the spare, and if you read this thread, he has a tool box built into the rear bumper too. If I don't mount the spare inside the shell, I'm lookin' at this one hard.

I made my own so I can still use the tailgate for extra length and remove the tire in less then 2 minutes to take advantage of the whole bed, the angle I chose gave me the most room without back glass blockage. No problems, vibration or rattles through heavy use.

That works, but I don't want to use any bed space up. I like the idea of having some sort of swingout.

Thanks for the replys!

Totally understand, but how about when you need the tailgate for that extra 2 feet for a piece of plywood or some long 2x4 chunks, that swingout version would make it alittle difficult to do that.

Each man for his own use. If I read his signature correct, he has a short bed, same as me, and I chose it purposefully for backroad access & maneuverability. I don't want to waste bed space either since this is mainly a traveling rig for me. I have a rack on my shell, and a nine foot stakebed dump for work and hauling material. I'm just moving the spare to make room for the extra tank. I'd guess 4xq has a box full of toys he's travelin' with.
