Dealer "Block Test"??????

Hey there guys/Gals. . Dropped the truck off for my drips out the water pump area. Intermittant so I took pics ( ANd posted them here as well). Dealer was impressed THey are reluctant to investigate the thermostat because they say they either stick open or closed no inbetween. Possibly true...



But they are going to run a BLOCK test on the coolant to detect Exaust gasses... .



If positive then we have a head gasket issue..... Anyone else ever do a block test? How does it work??

I seem to remember reading about this test in the past. If this is the same test, IF... . they take your truck after it is cold, maybe sitting overnight. They start the truck and immediately go to wide open throttle for a certain period of time. That is all I remember. This may not be the same test, but I'd ask and see what they say.

that is the test to see if the freeze plugs will blow out.

Correct, that was freeze plugs. . THis is where they remove a coolant sample and test it somehow for the presence of Exaust Gasses... . Would indicate Head Gasket problems...

You would think Chrysler would replace a 30. 00 thermostat for a customer in good faith instead of having to replace a 6,000 motor later on when the 30. 00 part fails. . LOLOL



My health insurance PAYS ME 100. 00 just for having my physical every year. They got it figured out that 100. 00 is CHEAPER than fixing me later! LOLOo.
