Just looked at the dodge.com site, and built a 2008 Mega cab for the heck of it, and it is showing a 3. 42 gear ratio for the AAM 11. 5 axle. Am I seeing things, or is this going to be really available? It would be nice to get a part number for them, called the dealer today, and they don't have info on the 08 trucks yet, but they say soon. Anyhow, has anyone else seen that yet? There may be some hope for the taller gear yet, and gain a little more mileage, with less expense than a gear vendors... ...

I would'nt bet on it being less expensive then a gear vendor. Remember this is Dodge we are talking about.

If they want $300 for a clutch switch you can buy from Cummins for $24. 00, what do you think they will want for the gears?

What switch is that?

the clutch switch for the 6 speed. To do the High Idle by the cruse control switch on a 6 speed, you are supposed to use a switch on your clutch, that grounds a pin on the ECM. I think it grounds when the clutch pedal is out. I think this is to stop you from having an accident where you have the high idle turned on and press the clutch to put it into gear. With the switch, as soon as you press the clutch the high idle shuts off.

You don't have to purchase from Dodge, call AAM they can set you up with a distributor to get them from, I did this and am waiting for the gears now.

check raychem's post, he is currently doing this swap. I would seriously consider myself once I have another 600 to spare. definately cheaper than a gear vendors. If you do it post some feedback for us interested.

Well like many I am waiting for AAM to start shipping. As per my conversation with them last week, they should be available by the middle of this week... ... But I am not holding my breath. I have been waiting since May.
