Getting ready to go on a long trip for vac. Will be towing 2 Jetskis. What SW setting is giving you guys the best mpg on the smarty? Also does anyone know when the new Smarty software for towing will be out?

I think for me sw3 provides the best mileage as well as most I talk to. Question is do you have enough trans?

Bob

I tried the 4. 4 beta program on SW 1. The milage improved about 1 MPG, EGT's stayed within limits, and not much smoke. The throttle is very responsive, but not overly touchy. I like it. Got 12. 1 MPG towing a 27 foot TT.

Smarty Timing vs No Timing Settings

Can someone please explain to me what the difference is on the Smarty settings.

I tow a FW trailer 8k lbs and was wondering should I do it on #2 or #3, the only difference being timing settings.

I appreciate any help in this explanation.

I would be interested in more of the 4. 4 towing beta settings too.

I have been running Smt 3EV 303 D 302 B from 9/24/06. What is the advantage or disadvantage going to the newer soft wares?

I like the timing and t/m on the s/w I'm now running and would not want to change much. I like to add pressure with the va3. 1 by a switch when I want more pressure. I don't run pressure for daily driving and wouldn't want the smarty to raise pressure. The only thing I would like to get rid of is once in a while when I let off the gas peddle it wants to keep going and pultsates for a few seconds. I've herd others have had this same thing and the newer s/w fixes this but when every thing else is running so good I want to make sure I don't mess things up to fix a minor anoyance. When the old s/w is removed it's gone.

Looks like I have Smt 3EV 303D 302B saved so I could go back to it.

To be fair Rip has a few mods on that truck that wouldn't apply to the general public;)

Billy, everything look like a plus right now with no drawbacks as far as I can tell.

Rip ran the new program last night and he got to 11. 52 with his 05 race truck

And that was with Beta 4. 4

He even told me he was running with a steel 2 door shell on the box :)

software 3 would be the better choice. reduced egt's and better fuel economy.

Do you have gauges installed?
Does the torque mgt level have any effect on mpg? Like is SW #3 stock TM the best for mpg?

Does stock TM produce the least smoke?

On the MADS download page 2004-2006 trucks have two software groups to choose from. Is there any difference between the 2003-2006 software and the 2004-2007 software when used on a 2005 truck?

Thanks

As i understand it the reason for the overlaping years is because 2003-2007 would require too much hard drive space on the smarty and it can't hold all the data thus theres a split. The software will be the same though.

that is correct and sorry for the confusion, Smarty's memory chips can not hold all the 2003-2007 softwares so we had to divide it up.

The 04-05 softwares are identical in either group.

Marco is working very hard on the next software release. Fuel economy and egt's are looking good.

MADS forcus is R&D 24/7

That is what i love about the smarty there focus is R&D, which will make it perfect, thats good news to hear bob.

Can't believe how great my EGT's were towing last weekend. Never dropped out of 6th gear. Never hit 1000deg. I should've easily hit 1200deg. I've only had the Smarty for about 3wks. Haven't updated or even checked to see which SW it was shipped with. Is the shipped software or Moderate torque management better for mileage when towing? I'm currently at SW#3. Weight of trailer and onboard gear is about 9k.

Thanks Bob & Marco for the great product.
