Anyone else having this problem. Only 55,000 miles on the truck. Took it into the dealership this a. m. . Just logging this issue into TDR in case others are having the same thing. Leaking where the drive shaft goes into the rear diff. , is it called the rear pinion seal?

Yep, my 04. 5 did this and I took it in and it was a quick and easy fix. Took less than an hour for them to repair it and it never leaked again. My began to seep at about 4,000 miles!!! Ran the truck to nearly 100,000 with no further issues. . Dealer said it had a nick in it from the factory...

Pretty common. Mine's seeped since new, I've just never gotten around to taking it in. I need to, though, only 20k left on the powertrain...

Rear Diff Pinion Seal

Mine started leaking at 20K . However, it was beyond the 36 months by 5 days and the dealer would not warrant the repair.

Mechanic just called said they had a chance to do it after hours but found a faulty U-Joint. Which he will fix today. . , I hope.

UpDate

fixed it all by the early A. M. Didn't realize till after the repair I should've asked the mechanic to install one with a grease nipple. I hate not being able to lube up this stuff under the truck. Seems like it's all designed to crap out sooner than later. Just my opinion though!

I just noticed mine is a little wet around the seal. How hard is it to do yourself? I hate paying somebody to do something I can do on my own.

From what I was told its an easy job if you have a puller. . , like mine your u-joint is probably going as well. Seems (according to the dealership) they go together more or less.
