On my tailgate I have in good size letters "I'd Rather Be Cummin... Than Strokin". I've had it on for 2 years now. I get a lot of thumbs up and positive comments for it, even from women, until today. I was in a safety meeting at a construction site today and when I came out my tailgate was down. As I was walking to my truck the head project manager told me his boss told him that my sticker was too vulgar for the site and I had to have the tailgate down while on the site. I asked if his boss was a power stroke owner, but he wasn't.

I know some people don't understand it has to with trucks. I even explained what it meant. They don't want the "new homeowners" to get offended. I'm only at the site a couple hours every week. What has the construction world come to? I'm glad I didn't have a set balls hanging from my hitch. :D

Has anyone had a similar issue?

I have not had this problem before. I am worried though that the world is losing its since of humor. It seems you have to worry in case somebody maybe offended as in your case. I wonder what the world will be like for my grand children in a humorless world. It would be different if it was blantantly offensive but when it is not it should be laughed at and taken as it was ment to be FUN(Chicken Soup for the Soul)!!

But he wasn't to concerned about Offending You!

Good thing is they can't lay me off. We're the drywall subcontractor. The worst that can happen is they send a letter or email to my office and ban me from the site. I was getting irritated at the time, I bit my tongue and agreed to his request. Not only am I representing the company as the safety coordinator, my parents own the company.

I agree with you, however it's not worth fighting over. What I would have an issue with is that someone lowered your tailgate. No one has any business touching your truck. I'd put a tailgate lock on it. I have one on mine.

At first this post didn't bother me but after thinking about it, it really starts to irritate the heck out of me. This falls under "freedom of speech". I know what it is to play it safe but as Benjamin Franklin said, "People who trade freedom for security deserve neither". As he is a subcontractor, would it be legal to pull the contract from them and awarded it to some other contractor just because their workers swore outloud? I don't think so. Just my 2 cents worth.

Technically, doesn't freedom of speech prohibit the government from making any laws restricting speech, but does not restrict private persons from restricting free speech all they want?

I mean, I believe I have the right to restrict anyone on my property from saying anything I deem inappropriate. Other people, in turn, have the right to either obey my rule or stay off my property.

Am I wrong?

about the bull balls, Maryland had a legislator intoduce a bill prohibiting them in state law. Never heard if it passes

Try having a confederate flag on your back window. I have had to move my truck off company property numerous times because of it.

I agree, Id be more mad about someone just walking up and touching my truck. I have a sticker on the windows of both back doors that say Stroke This B... . (rhymes with hitch) some people get it and laugh about it but others give me nasty looks... it seems more people in Vegas get it or like it than here Ive got lots of comments (positive) at the race there

Thats NUTZ:-laf

The only thing I don't like about those NUTZ is one day I am going to have to explain to my daughter what is hanging under that guys truck. BUT I would NEVER kick someone off a job site for having them or any other sticker that I didn't agree with. Heck the company I work for have stickers on all thier trucks and HATE those stickers with a passion. They read "FORD" al over them. -Jason

I hear ya, I have no prob with the sticker, heck my bud has the same one on his personal truck. But I can see the point of your representing your company and the general contractor that hired you as well. If the truck is your work/company truck it should reman pretty neutral and professional. I work as a union electrician and I know all about jobsite humor, but when the suits or the customers come around, they are generally insalted by anything LOL Just my 2 pennies..... :D
