I added some 3/4" hose and dropped the end down by the sway bar several years ago. I'm going to relocate the hose to keep the crap off of the radiator, intercooler, engine and chassis (not to mention the occassional oil drops on the driveway), but what is the latest and greatest method and dump location for the vent line?
 
I've been using this setup for years now - you've probably already seen it in other related threads, and it DOES work well:

I drilled lots of added holes in the canister, then use old socks on the outside for filtering and to catch/hold oil vapors - the sock gets changed as needed - usually when under the truck to change the oil. Some guys caution about potential freezup of the sock material in real cold climates - never been an issue here down to zero degrees.



Anyway, it's one option, and has kept the underside of my truck and the garage floor spotless... ;)

I ran enough extra tubing so it will loop over the inlet side of the turbo and back down to the frame. It creates a p-strap effect. I works for me:)

Gary, your idea was the one I've been leaning towards, but I thought there would be something high tech and high HP by now! Gotta love the KISS system.

WELL, my "solution" was geared to totally eliminate all dripping of oil, not simply relocate it somewhere else under the truck. As it is, any minor oil vapor is entirely contained in the outer sock material, and absolutely NONE ends up under my truck or spotting my garage floor.

Do you have sock material inside the bottle, too? That was how I pictured your set up years ago when you first did it. ... or just keep the additional vent holes in the up position to allow vapors to come out while the fluid build up stays in the container?

That tube needs to be downhill the whole way. The crankcase needs to breathe as it heats/cools. Eventually, as that tube fills with oil and stops passing air, the crankcase is gonna find another way to breathe (probably through the seals).

I used to insert absorbent material inside the bottle - but found that I have no shortage of old socks to use on the outside, and the change period is pretty much the same either way - so eliminated the internal absorbent material.
