Can anyone tell me how much a Recon kit sells for or what you've paid for it? It's hard to find prices anywhere. Thanks.

Wow, that seems pretty expensive, the bilstien shocks cost about 360 for a set of 4 on thier own, so that means 1000 for 2 coils, 2 add a leafs and some hardware. They must have some wiggle room on that price, I called Kore a while back and they sell through some dealers or you can buy direct, they quoted me I think 1275 for the Recon. But who knows the price may have gone up, this was a while back. I never did buy a suspension kit but I will eventually, not sure which one is best, the Kore does have variable rate coils, the one in that link does not.

The VR coils may not be magic, but they are very useful in the case of our heavy trucks with limited wheel travel. The variable rate does not 'limit" your travel at all. When the coils droop out, they are softer than stock, as they compress, they get tighter than stock to help resist bottoming. Slowing down a heavy tire with a big cummins above it is a tall order for any shock. Getting assistance from the spring is very helpful in this application.

Bob4x4's 3" King will work better than the Bilstein when pushing it very hard. But the Recon system will do great down basic washboard roads at moderate speed. The VR coil helps the small Bilstein resist bottoming much more than the shock is capable of with a standard rate coil. We have used every arrangement imaginable. We have raced with and without VR's, we sell a leveling kit that has HD flat rate coils and a Recon system that has VR's. The Recon front is much better than the leveling kit. The reason is the VR coil, bottom line.

no try 3" kings with Carli springs at 90 Oo.

Bob

I don't drive my truck at 90 even on the freeway. However I do drive washboard every day. The KORE recon makes the ride very smooth compared to stock. Unless you plan on doing 90 down a dirt road, prerunning or chasing it's really all you need. Oo.

I can't compair the VR coils to the competitors springs, but I can say they ride much better that the older flat rate KORE coils on the road. For street driving, they ride at least as good as stock or better. And of course they can take it when the going gets rough. I'm very pleased. Worth the cost to me.

The only vr springs that I can remember riding in was Greg Bordmans truck, they were too stiff and noisey for me. We had a TDR memeber join us at Glamis but he only brought his truck out on one of our runs and then parked it the rest of the week end??????????

Bob

The VR coils Greg Boardman ran were one of two sets. The first prototype race coils. The were on Kent's race truck, and Greg's Big Red. They were designed to be a little stiffer than desirable unless driven quite hard. They do not represent what is currently offered, nor were they ever sold to the public in a suspension system. They were a very good coil spring arrangement for the front of a race truck.

Discount Kore?

There's a guy selling Kore systems including Recons in the TDR. classifieds. Supposedly he's a dealer liquidating his stock. Don't know if he's legit or not. His offerings are substantially below retail.

Afraid to advertse a price I might be afraid to buy it :-laf:-laf

We are not afraid to advertise price, that is our choice for very obvious reasons. I would be more afraid to buy a system that is not "baja proven" and claimed to be than a system that actually is "baja race proven". Our prices are just a phone call away. We prefer to talk personally to our clients and that has been very successful for us.

I'm Not trying to provoke, but come on guys... There's a huge gap between race proven components and that which we all sell to the public.
