Have backed into an oak tree and smashed my left rear tail light assembly. Dealer wants $110. 00 special order plus CA tax. Have searched internet but can't find one. Is this a dealer only part? Have e-mailed Wholesale Mopar in Florida. The assembly is made by Decoma in Mexico. Truck assembled in Saltillo, Mexico. Should I just drive down there and see if they have any extras lying around?

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Catoiler: Thanks for the input. I think the tail lights are different on the 07. There are two small Torx head screws that tie into the assembly--from the inside shoulder of the bed/tail gate area. Have to open the tail gate to get access to them. Maybe I'll take a picture and post it. Got an e-mail from 'Wholesale Mopar' in Florida--'on back oder. ' Still trying to access their reply.

I just got a 3500 2007. 5 and I am going to replace my factory tail lights, not into the batman look of the tail lights they put on. Not sure when I am going to get around to it but we could make a deal if you want one of these.

I just looked at my buddys 06 and they are the same except yours have the 2 bumps on each and mine are smooth but they mount the same.

Denny: Thanks for the lead on the tail light--in Texas. The diagram shown on a lot of these parts websites doesn't resemble what's on the truck--as to mounting--it shows one large bolt as opposed to 2 small torx screws. Will probably call "Eric" at the number you gave. Also, as Sky mentioned--'the batman look'--and as Catoiler said--'two bumps' isn't shown in the diagrams on line. but it looks like the 06 will mount in the same way as the 07.

Thanks, Catoiler--for the follow up. You're probably right that the 06 or 05 will mount the same way as the 07--with the 2 Torx screws--from inside the bed with the tailgate down. nice to have so much help from you folks at TDR. My lifew just got real complicated with so many new options.

Sky: Thanks for the offer on your 07/3500 "batman tail lights. " Good description. What are you going to replace them with? If I don't run them down in Texas, I may get back to you. I need to fix this now so I don't have to drive around with the CHP pulling me over. I looked at lens repair material at Kragen's for a quick fix--but decided to wait and do it right and put the $12 lens repair into a new unit instead.

You can save some cash and go for the red packing tape tail lights, probably around $5. But seriously, I would check Ebay. A buddy of mine has an 07 Mega Cab CTD, he wanted to swap lights with my 06 which has the smooth lights, his has the bubble lights. We went to try and swap and they have totally different connectors, the 06 has three bulbs, and the 07 only has two, not compatible, totally different harness.

Thanks to SGrimes and MStrain--important info about difference between 06 and 07 tail lights. Glad I didn't get the 06's at this point.
