Well I have had quite a bit of play in my steering wheel for some time now and it finally ****** me off enough to get under there and figure it out. My steering wheel will move about 3in to the left and to the right before the tire turns. I noticed quite a bit of deflection in the shaft coming out of my steering box. Will the D. S. S take care of my steering wheel play or do I need to look somewhere else. All the tie rod and track bar ends look and feel good.

This stupid little steering shaft also left my truck buried in a mud hole last winter when the shaft snapped in half! :{

Every dodge should come with a DSS stock PERIOD!!

That a good enough answer for you? I have one on both of my trucks... wouldnt leave home without it!

Takes alot of play and wander out of the steering and also will extend the life and re-enforce your steering box and abilities.

LMAO!!!! :-laf:-laf

Did you blame it on the truck? :p

Well I got in on this weekend! ONly took about 20 min and this thing drives like a new truck! Best $225 i ever spent. The only thing is I am so used to driving with a sloppy steering wheel that now when i want to change lanes the truck jumps 3 lanes over. :eek:Guess I will have to learn how to drive all over again!, OH YEAH THIS IS ON A 2002 QUAD CAB WITH 5. 5 INCH LIFT, 37 INCH BFG MUD TERRAINS ON 18X9 WHEELS... NOT HE TRUCK IN THE SIG...

herc130 did the EMS HUBS make any differance in steering
I thought mine took out the "turn from center " ( notchy feel ).
Really pleased with the DSS and the EMS Hubs,

? Hercules130 ? C130?
I am sure God has blessed you brother and all the True American Patriots

Sure sounds like the DSS should be a 'must' to install on our trucks. I have the KORE Leveling kit and am wondering how the DSS would be installed with the KORE blocks. Has anyone done this install coupled with the KORE? If so, got a pic? Pic worth 1K words. I would like to curb what could be a problem down the road, fix first, then no need to fix later at more expensive costs because other stuff failed.

it won't go in with the kore spacers. BUT, you can get away without them. i did in my 99 with zero problems. if you're that concerned with swaybar geometry you could also pick up some longer links for the ends of your sway bar and it'll still be a worth while upgrade for the $$. a couple of our favorite suspension companies offer the longer links and IMO they're better than the spacers anyway.

good luck, j

I loved mine in my '01, been thinknig about putting one in the '04. 5.

There are 2 different DSS's out there. They look the same and are called the same, but there's a difference in who makes them. I guess I bought mine from the "wrong" one but it was still fine. I haven't dug around enough to know what's what. Made in the same town, but ata different shop. Maybe a couple brothers got in a ****'ing match or something,

If you look at the solidsteel. biz website, PDR is a distributor/dealer of their DSS. Don't know of any other manufacturer, and according to the website, there is a patent pending on this design. I got mine for the 99 from a local guy near Cincy, who was a dealer for a central ohio distributor. Also had the 3G trackbar kit. I went from looking like a drunk, to 90% fix by doing both. Pretty easy to install. Helps to have a second hand or a bottle jack to hold up the torsion bar. I will eventually put the DSS on mine. Also see their other site Windecker Machine Ltd. Home Page.

so would a DSS be recomended for an 06'. I havent had a stitch of problems with the steering in the new truck ( yet) . . My 99' was a mess when I traded it in. My trucks see a fairly substantial amount of off road use.

foolkiller... I have the sway bar blocks on my truck and the dss still hooks up just fine. you just have to mount it on top of the drop bracket for the sway bar. I dont see why it wouldn't fit any lift.

JDerrik... If your truck see quite abit of off road use i would suggest it more as a safety item... I was out 4wheeling and hit a rut, the force trasfered through my tire to my tie rods and snapped the shaft coming out of the steering box in half! The DSS gives so much strength and reinforcement to the shaft! Not cool to be cruising along and have no control of where your truck is going!
