My Edge A2 monitor's EGT is off by about 30-40 degrees on the low end (100-105). I dont know for sure that is off on the upper end, but Im thinking is off by 100-150 degrees. My BD X-Mon gauge reads about 100-150 higher at the max side. I will see about 1350 (not max, but same stretch of road at same speed/load/ambient temp) on L-1 with the X-Mon. same conditions with the edge EGT about 1200-1230.
This is with the back down settings off. I measured the low end with both pryro probes out of the manifold, sitting on the fender. using an infared temp gun i measured the surface temp of both probes. Edge-surface temp 104. 0- gauge reading 77. BD probe surface temp 104. 2-gauge reading 104.
first thing in the morning with a stone cold truck my eng temp, trans temp, air intake temp, BD x-mon pyro temp, overhead DC temp gauge, and AC vent temp gauge and fluke meter all read 91 degrees. EDGE EGT reads 72 degrees.
What is the deal. I called EDGE and got a new module and monitor and pryo probe (all on different attempts to fix other problems). With all the different combos the EGT was always reading low.
Their response was the have a $5000. 00 calibrater so it cant be off. When i explained how i determined the problem they claimed the infared was in acurate. eventually after repeating my self several times and explaining that this was not a personal attack the manager said they could do nothing. He exclaimed "im confident in the acuracy of my product". Then got upset and said i should not question him because he has sold thousands and thousands off products and never had a problem melting down an engine.
Bottom line no fix just have to live with the gauge where it is... . sorry for the long post. Any body else have any problems with their EGT acuracy?????
