Hello to everyone,

The power window switch on my brother's 01. 5 CTD seems to have gone bad. We are certain it is the switch as it is the switch on drivers side which controls passenger side window. The actual passenger switch works fine.

We are wondering if the switch can be popped out of the door panel or if he has to remove the entire inner door panel to get to the rear portion of the switch?

Any responses are greatly appreciated!

Regards,

Mark

You can lift out the switch by gently prying the upper edge of the bezel at the front and rear using a wide flat bladed tool. Also check the wires that lead from the door at the hinge area for any breaks in the wires from opening and closing the door.

Thank you for responding so quickly! We had not thought to check the wiring in the door jam for breaks!

Again, thanks a ton!

Mark,

You may also find that it helps to remove the hand hold bucket in the door panel. That will allow you to get your hand or a tool inside to press against the tab to help the switch pop out. The bucket is attached by two Phillips head screws and pops out easily once those screws are removed.

You definitely don't have to remove the door panel.

Good luck,

Loren
