Someone else here had mentioned a $399 deal ($100 off) for the "lifetime" membership and mine was running out (it did Sunday). Sure enough $399, but I think the guy at Sirius said this week only. Just a heads up! I say "lifetime" because your can only transfer it, I think, 3 times for $75. If you have a warranty on your radio and it gets stolen or breaks, it's a free transfer - or something like that. I also asked them about the pending XM merger and they said the "lifetime" will be honored. We'll see. :p

My subscription expires in 30 days. I have SIRIUS in the Dodge and XM in the wife's Acura. I prefer SIRIUS over XM content. When I renewed the XM and traffic service it cost me about 88. 00 for a year with a “code”. Is there a code for SIRIUS or are they so sure of themselves that they do not offer anything? I am aware of the $499. 00 for a lifetime subscription but that is a little stiff for when you compare against the various XM offers.

I'm sorry but I don't trust "lifetime" memberships especially if they cost $$$. I spent $$ for one not long ago and they changed ownership and woops 'we don't honor that any longer'. :-{} The more it costs the more it ain't for me. Thanks but no thanks. They can say anything they want but if they go out of business or are bought out you are more than likely screwed. :-{}

My lifetime membership paid for itself several months ago. Got it in Feb 2004. You can also add additional radios for $7 / month.

my lifetime membership is an external Kenwood Sirius reciever - So when I sold my truck, i just removed it and bought a new Kenwood cd player and hooked it up - no issues yet.

What if the merger goes through, some of the new plan options they going to offer look pretty good too. Plus what if Bubba does isn't get a new contract on Howard 101???

Has any one mentioned yet that the life time plan is for your radio not you? I looked into this when I bought my first unit. Found out if the radio crapped out I would loose the lifetime when I went to buy a replacement unit. Not a good deal in my opinion.

And as far as Bubba goes, go buy either the new Stiletto2 or an iPod as you will have to catch the crew on their pod cast from the sounds of it.

Above not true according to the Sirius website.

The above is true according to Sirius from 2yrs ago. I "was" going to buy the lifetime subscription when I bought my first Sirius unit. Things may have changed since then but after the head banging against the brick wall call I had with them too night, I would really give some thought to the "life time" subscription.

4. Right to Transfer a Subscription: Satellite Radio Service Subscriptions (other than lifetime Subscriptions) are transferable from one Receiver to another. A LIFETIME SATELLITE RADIO SUBSCRIPTION (WHICH IS A SUBSCRIPTION THAT CONTINUES FOR THE LIFE OF THE RECEIVER) IS NOT TRANSFERABLE IF IT IS ASSOCIATED WITH A RECEIVER INSTALLED BY AN AUTOMAKER OR AN AUTOMOTIVE DEALER IN A VEHICLE, EXCEPT IN THE EVENT THE ORIGINAL RECEIVER ASSOCIATED WITH THAT LIFETIME SATELLITE RADIO SUBSCRIPTION IS STOLEN, ACCIDENTALLY DAMAGED OR, IN OUR SOLE DISCRETION, IS DEFECTIVE. A LIFETIME SATELLITE RADIO SUBSCRIPTION ASSOCIATED WITH A HOME, PORTABLE OR PLUG & PLAY RECEIVER IS TRANSFERABLE FROM ONE RECEIVER TO ANOTHER RECEIVER, UP TO A MAXIMUM OF THREE TIMES. Permitted transfers of Satellite Radio Service Subscriptions are subject to a transfer fee, as set forth herein.

Like I said, the info I had is a couple years old. And it still does not sound like a good deal. I have had three of their units now so when I decide to upgrade again if I had a life time subscription I would be SOL on the money I spent for the lifetime sub.

It might work for some folks but for others it will not work.
