I was in my local Walmart today and noticed they now are caring their brand of oil for diesel vehicles. Has anyone every used this and how does it compare to the other diesel oil's on the market? It was about a $1. 00 cheaper than the other well known names. :)

Just need to find out who makes it, you know WalMart doesn't.

Quicker State Oil makes it I ran it in my 94 for years. The 94 now has 256,000 Miles and is still running good and is still running Wal-Mart oil. also used it in my 2004 before I went to Amsoil.

guys why would any one buy oil or other stuff from them. it is always the lowest quality on earth. why take a chance?:cool:kp

TDR mag had a article on oils in a recent issue, blind analysis were given to a oil expert. He chose Wal-Mart over several more popular brands.

If I recall, NAPA and Premium Blue were at the top, with Wal Mart down a place or two.

was looking at the oil from walmart, and noticed the 15-40 has a ci-4 /SL rating. does any body know what the sl rating means exactly. was reading 2 issues ago tdr mag. and they said that sl ratings are for cars . i know that the latest issue from trd rated walmart not bad, is this the same oil they tested.

C rated oils are for diesel engines.
S rated oils are for gas engines.
Oils that have a C and S rating on the same bottle can be used in either gas or diesel engines as long as it is the second letter compliant for model year engines. Your owners manual will tell you what rating your engine should use. The second letter is backwards compatable, meaning a L oil can be used in an engine requiring a J oil.

I'm sure it's got to be one of the brands that Wmart already sells. All can go a million miles, if you don't melt a piston, or drop a valve seat... ...

I use the Rottella synthetic 5W-40 because of a slight MPG improvement during the first 10 miles until the oil warms up every day, and better high temp turbo protection at shutdown.

As for wear, most of us will not wear out a motor.

Our engines need that S rating for the camshaft. It has some friction reducing additives.
