Utah Emissions...

I am considering a relocation to Salt Lake City.



Anyone familiar with the local emissions programs? I found that they do have an opacity check- but how difficult is it to pass?



On the first two levels of the edge comp I hardly make any smoke unless I'm on it really hard, but I am making some... I passed the Ohio E-check no problem... :-laf

There are some counties that require emissions tests on Diesels, but Davis County is the only one that has a Diesel Dyno to do the tests with, so if you live in a different county like I do ( Weber County) I do not require the test to be run.

I moved to Utah and licensed my truck in Salt Lake County about 1 year ago. At the time I had the Banks Ottomind, but no Smarty or larger injectors. I had no problem at all passing the emissions test. The truck would put out a single puff of black smoke on start, but none after that. You will probably be OK. Hope this helps.

I live in Millard county, and I've been pulled over with a big cloud of smoke behind me but was pulled over for speeding, and the cop didn't say a word about the smoke.

I used to live in the Madison, WI area. When I left there a few years ago, there were no emissions tests. I don't know about the Milwaukee area. Everywhere else I don't think would have it.

The only areas in Wisconsin you will really have to worry about is the Southeast part, mainly the Milwaukee Metro counties and surrounding areas, or as some call it " North Chicago". The rest of the state you are pretty much in the clear. You might have some problems if you get in a town with police that have something to prove and your truck blows the coal, but nothing on the books that I know of.
