I just found THE 12 valve truck I want, its a 98 quad/shortbox manual. And if I cant get that, I know of a 98 quad/long auto. First question: is there any benefit to swapping a pump off a 215 truck on the auto? Im lookin at the torque plates in a catalog, and for the 98 auto theres a #5 plate rated at 270/675, but for the 215 trucks, the #10 plate is rated at 330/750.

Next question, in reference to the 215 pump: in the same catalog, theres a #5,6,8,10,11, and 12 plate for the 94-95 auto & manuals and 96-98 autos, but the 96-98 manuals only have a #10, 11, & 12 plate, and says 5,6, & 8 plates arent recommended. Why not? What would happen? And where do the 0 and 100 plates fit, as compared to the others? TIA, sorry for the long post, just tryin to learn.

A 215 pump responds much better to a plate. So I not recomened ones make too much power. In a nutshell the 215 is a much better street pump if you have the trans or clutch and turbo to work with it.

The plates that are not recommended produce more torque and horsepower than the stock auto transmission, or clutch pack can handle. You can trash it pretty pretty quickly.

As far as the 0 and 100 plates, I believe the 0 plate pushes full fuel all through the plate travel. The 100 is a 10 that has the top ground to eliminate its' de-fueling curve at the top end. As far as the pump swap, I think any '98 pump will make tons of power with the proper plate and turbo. I don't think the expense or effort would be worth it.

You can use the more powerful plates in the bigger pumps, but the those fuel injection pumps push so much more fuel, that you will need more engine mods to support them. More air= bigger turbo or twin turbos, head work (depending on the plate), heavier clutch, or even a twin disc clutch... ... ... . The list goes on.

If you want mega power on an auto truck, the 913 pump would be a great choice. However, the auto fuel injection pumps can make some serious power, but takes more parts, pump work, and tuning.

Still have the stock governor springs, but still put down a best of 363hp/793tq with mine, prior to the new HTT turbo. No other changes.

In the process of buying a 913 pump right now.

the 913 pump is the 215 trucks right? Let me know how the swap goes, I think thats what Id do if I ended up with the auto truck. So running, say, a #5 plate on the 215 pump would be ok, as long as the supporting mods are in place? (and they would) What kind of power would I be lookin at?

A #5 or 6 will work fine and fuel HARD!
