my engine light keeps coming on on my 2001 i check it with my smarty its says ( low voltage map sensor) what does this mean? i need a new sensor? please help i have a pull next weekend!!!!!!

It could be your MAP sensor or the wiring harness to it. I'd start with greasing(dielectric grease) all the connections in the MAP circuit. I had a problem with a corroded pin in my Comp box wiring harness to the MAP sensor.

mine did the the same thing a while back and I changed the sensor out and it has not done it sense. I think its around 60 bucks at cummins for mine but you have a different sensor but it should be about the same

Mine also did the same thing a couple of weeks ago - I had put the Smarty back to stock timing, and was just using the Comp at the time.

I had stopped the truck at the beginning of a long pull with our 5er to check everything and light the refrigerator while the engine was running - and when I got back in the truck the check engine light was lit and the code set - my MAP error was voltage too HIGH - so I just reseated all the related plugs and erased the code - no more errors so far...

What's a MAP sensor?

Jeeze - my acronyms brain lobe keeps getting fuzzier! :-laf

Mass Air Pressure - or something similar - anyway, a sensor that keeps track of turbo boost and sends info to the engine computers... It can fail with a HIGH, or LOW voltage error code - mine this time is a low voltage code, P0237 - and just did it again this morning, and again while it was idling. This time the Smarty software was installed on program #2, and Comp on 1x1.

I'll try disconnecting the related plugs, then apply a liberal dose of contact cleaner before reassembly, and see what that does - otherwise, maybe time for a replacement sensor?
