hey guys i am trying to get some ideas on a turbo right now with the stock turbo i can hit 1600-1700 degrees in a heartbeat. i know twins would be best but they are a little pricey. . any suggestions

What do you do with your truck. I just took off a HTB2 62/14 because I didn't like how it was when towing. It may be something wrong with the turbo. It is going on UPS on Monday to get sent back and checked out.

what do you use your truck for cause there are many sizes to choose from but industrial injections turbos are a good choice and they have many options in the single line under 2k ( for tow or race)

Turn your fuel down! You are trying to burn more fuel than you have air to assist. With a new turbo, if you feed it too much fuel, your egt's will still get out of hand.

SPS62 is an exellent choice, "all around" Turbo. :-{}:-{}:-{}

i use my truck for pretty much everyday things . i dont tow much or at least often. and i dont tow anything heavy usualy my boat or like an 18foot trailer. . i just want a good all around turbo. but i also want a turbo that i will not have to upgrade in a year or so, when i add more power

has anybody had any experience with the silver bullet turbo?? from what i have heard is that for a 66 it isn't bad for every day use. any input??

A 66 turbo works better with a manual transmission because you can 'drive' around any bad spots. Of course there's a lot a 66 turbo automatics out there, but it's harder to make it work well on a automatic truck.

i am also running 37 inch tires, so my truck works a little harder in stop and go situations. . i don't know if that will acually make a difference???

I think I read somebody posted that the taller tires made the 66 surge worse, the turbo manufacturers should be able to help (as other people on this board)

seen more problems with a 64 than I do the 66 I run now. I would go to a 62/12 for all around towing/driving/performance. I have not seen a great turbo yet that covers all the bases well. but thats just my opinion.

well i have a buddy wiith 62/14 and it doesnt do anything for his egts. . it runs alot better but it still hits 1700-1800 degrees . i just dont want to spend 2k for realy nothing better. .

well if it is running better it is better, not? the fact that its running better tells me it has more air. so I wonder is he getting those high egt's after a longer pull maybe? is the air system leading into the turbo a stock air box? that would be a choke point before the turbo. I still hit high egt's but its after a longer run than the stock turbo would allow, while at higher fueling settings. I say if twins are not an option save for them, I did not and wish I had and I know many others that feel the same. even after hearing well so and so got away with it, they deal with it. if it takes till 12-15 psi for the thing to spool its to big. however it still works in pulls, no on and off throttle or shifts.

BOUGHT A SPS 62/12 FROM SCOTT AT MASSDIESEL - 95% HAPPY WITH IT AND ITS A DAILY DRIVER ANDF I TOW AROUND 11,000 LBS EVERY OTHER WEEK - EXCEPT FOR A FEW UNDER BOOST CODES ( GOING TO GET THEM WHEN YOU USE A BIGGER TURBO ) EVERYTHING IS FINE - HAPPY WITH THE TURBO:cool:

While not being as big and fancy as some of the others, i have an edge jammer ball bearing turbo made by turbonetics, it lites quick and doesnt surge, it whines very loud compared to even some of the bigger chargers... but im happy with it till i get over 500hp

I just put an sps 62/80 in my truck last night. It pulls like hell, but a little slower to spool. But once it lights, i gotta watch out for cops. I like it so far, cant wait to pull my toy hauler. One thing i really noticed is how loud it made my exhaust over the stock charger. It sounds a lot deeper. But i like it!
