Good morning,

Soon it will be brake pad change time and this question is directed to you who change their own and have had good luck using a specific brand and type. Raybestos makes a blue box PG series that is a medium duty pad and is easy on the rotors, not a cheap pad mind you, but med. to HD. Or what have you been using?

Richard

I got such high mileage on the original pads on my 95 that I went with original equipped Mopar pads, which I purchased from the dealer with my 10% discount. They were very easy to install. I'll do the same with my 05 when the time comes.

Wagner Quietstop, been the best pad I have used so far, but not cheap. Just tried to look up my truck on the Hawk website and no results found?!?!?

Carbomets...

The best brake pad you will ever find for your truck. I had over 70,000 miles on my first set and on this set there is about as many miles.

Done, no listing for 2000 2500 2WD
Actually the listing is there - it's just not identified as working on the 2WD truck. The same pads (Mopar P/N 5015254AB) are used on the front wheels of all Ram 2500's & 3500's model years 2000-2002.

Try performance friction carbon metallics. I have installed alot of these pads. They don't seem to be hard on the rotors, but they perform well. Haven't seen alot of brake dust on the wheels either.

Wagner Thermoquiets! I have 57k on them and there's still about 30% left. Tried Bendix pads prior to that, only got 35k out of them before metal on metal.

i used raybestos severe duty pads and they lasted about 1 year, went up to raybestos quietstop ceramic pads and have had them on for about 2 years and have 40% left, no dust no squeal and stop when hot. used the performance friction carbon metallics before they stop good but dont like heat as much as ceramic.

Got mine from Sam Peterson also. ;)

I have 80,000 on my originals and still pad left. Bought a set of OEM's 2 years ago thinking the fronts would need replacing but after pulling the wheel, 1/2 pad left. Think I am coasting up to the stop light too much.

When I did my rear disk conversion with EGR, I bought the slotted front rotor and the "Carbon Kevlar" pads.

these pads are like $250 a set and they have to be "heat set". . run up to 40 and do hard stop a few times, let cool, then do again. they don't get too much dust even when towing heavy. . truck has 86K and I think I replaced the stock pads at 40 or so.

contact EGR for these pads.

I tried Performance Friction pads. Seems to work well when hot and low brake dust, but overall performance was similiar to OEM. I went back to OEM because of cost and easy of acquiring them. (The closest place to get PF pads was 40+ miles away. )
