ty pete,

i was a little confused and when i got to the dealer they got me way more confused

i shoulda realized that even tho it said banjo bolt the part number was for a washer (sold sep) but i didnt so i had them dig me up a banjo bolt too

couldnt look at the pump cuz they didnt have it in stock

the pn - - piston lift pump 3936320 - isnt any good anymore. they say the new pn is 4944714

to anyone wanting to do this conversion all i can say is i hope you have a lot of patience and that the cummins dealer is not too far from your house...

cuz you will probably end up there more than once

don

me? i give up, am going with a big ole elec pump and a huge filter

I'm going through this same deal right now. The number for the banjo washer changed also. It is now 3963983. I got the same number for the lift pump too.

i bought all the stuff to do it (and then some probably, knowing the folks at cummins)

the new style washers are bad *****ed

they are now using a alum washer with a rubber coating

my total at cummins was 263. 05 shipping, tx, everything

what was yours? (i live in so cal and everything is more here)

I dunno yet. I got an Airtex pump with my employee discount at O'Reilly's. It was like $93. I know, not genuine Cummins, but its warrantied. If it gives me fits, I'll return it and get an oem unit. The rest of the stuff I ordered through Case/IH (cheaper than Cummins). They didn't tell me a total. I'm not too worried, because the same parts through Cummins totaled $48 and change. This was through my other job's account at Cummins, which they use to buy really really expensive marine engine packages.

sounds like you got really good prices

at both places

i wonder what hp range these things are good to?

one reader stated he now has "14psi idling and it never drops below 10psi at wot"

but i dont remember what his hp was

i am thinking they are good to 400 hp. i have the whole kit now, it got here today. and i am not going to use it. so unless someone on here takes it off my hands i will put it on ebay. that would be the piston lift pump conversion kit 89-'92

don

ps - i am not gonna give the stuff away but it will save whoever gets it a major headache

I put down 443rwhp and 920ish ft-lbs with a piston lift pump and stock fuel lines. IMO the piston lift pump along with a bigger supply line and fuel pickup in the tank (1/2"ID), the piston pump will be plenty for us, say 500rwhp. I'm in the process of upgrading my supply and fuel pickup to 1/2"ID on my 91. 5, which has a piston lift pump.

that is what i was thinking

and maybe do away with the lines from it to the ve as well?

(remote filter)

I've got all the fittings and stuff to eliminate the hard lines from the lift pump to VE but haven't gotten there yet. I plan to chuck the fuel heater, get a new filter adaptor, and use the oem filter boss with a stock type fuel filter, well not quite, the longer filter FS1221. Then metric to AN fittings at the in and outlets of the filter boss. 3/8"ID hose from LP to filter to VE. Might just be a waste. I'm sure just upgrading the supply from tank to LP would be fine.
