I want to turn the boost up on my stock turbo a bit, now that I have a Smarty. My question is, do I need one of those T-fittings in the air line to adjust it or can I just adjust the length of the wastegate rod to get the desired boost?

Just put a J hook on it. Oo. Do a search.

I see PDR has a J-hook, where can I get a boost elbow and what's the difference between the two? Would either one be adjustable?

Im sure PDR would have one

The stock elbow has a bigger orfice

The "boost elbow" has a smaller orfice to make it harder for pressure to get through it which inturn allows more boost

You can get a Ajustable boost elbow which has a set screw in it to block and unblock PSI by just a turn of the screw

This is the only picture i could find of one sorry

Remember there is no such thing as just "Turning up boost" Without a few other things first. The smarty is not going to add fuel like a set of injectors will. More fuel of course is a major part of the equation and the final result is not allways boost.

There are all kinds of boost [Insert Forrest Gump] like on/off map, (In or out of the turbo's efficiency range) hot (High boost numbers out of a turbo too small), chased (constant fuel adjustments to keep turbo "lit") And of course the unicorn of boost HvLp (High volume "Low" pressure) low meaning under say 50 lbs on a stock head gasketed truck.

But what I was getting at is don't expect huge numbers by jhooking, or elbowing. Just higher numbers because the turbo is out of its map with a splash of heat ... bad no, not at this stage, but fun ... . oh you betchya. :D

This is a boost elbow type that I use. Scroll down just a bit. You use an allen wrench to adjust it. At the turbo compressor housing there is a brass elbow that you remove and install this in its place. This is on the hose to the waste gate.

I have also tried adjusting the length of the push rod arm for the waste gate. This can be a bit of a hassle and I ended up modding my bracket so I could make adjustments easy.

The boost elbow is what I would reccomend you start with. There are also more high dollar advanced devices but this one is very easy to install and works well.

Tool Man Tim - I am in the process now of getting a set of injectors that will flow a little better than stock. I also understand the stock turbo is good up to ? I've heard setting it anywhere from 26-35PSI. I realize I need injectors also, more air won't do any good w/out more fuel.
