Coming home nothing out of ordinary get on the off ramp and the truck does not downshift, And yes I stalled it stopping. Ok park, start again, drive, clunk. Ok park, start again, 1st, clunk. S. . t. Start again, oooh I have reverse, so I pull off in reverse and get out of the way. I didn't pay extreme sums of money for a transmission to leave me on the side of the road. Worse yet I have pland to take my boat to the lake tomarow. #@$%! Just as I am contemplating driving home in reverse a friendly DC owner stopped and offered to tow me home. Thank god it wasn't a ford. I don't think i could live with myself. Anyway is there anything I can do to get my boat to the lake and back without pushing it?

Trans probably OK

Cochran - Sounds like the converter is in lockup. I don't think lockup occurs in reverse. I believe the trans is probably OK. I think I would turn off the controller if you have one and try that. Then I would I would check the wire that is tapped into the plug that goes into the side of the trans that does the lockup signal. The wire that controls the lockup may be getting voltage erroneously.

When I installed my ATS I remember tapping into the harness that goes into the side of the trans to provide the lockup signal. Mine installation had a "wire tap" connector there which I can unplug and bypass the controller.

Hope this helps. I still think the trans is fine.

If you have the ATS Co-pilot, unplug the Harness on the Back of the Co-pilot and Jump the Yellow and Blue wires, this will Bypass the Co-pilot and return the Vehicle to Factory Lockup and dis-engagement.

No dice on both, transmission is fu... d TC wont unlock in forward. I lifted the rear end off of the ground so the wheels could spin freely. there are very bad sounds coming from the transmission while in forward. reverse still works fine.

Nice one Jeff... :-laf:-laf

He could make it to the lake eventually, but once you're on the ramp where do you go from there?

Give ATS a call!!

Go ahead a give ATS a call. They took care of mine 100%. Had the truck picked up and repaired in short order. All I had to do is catch a ride to pick up the truck. The authorized repair location was Southern Truck Parts in Conley, GA. , just east of Atlanta. Southern did a fine job and they were always available for a status update while performing the repair. Hope it works out "OK" for you Cochran.

Cochran, you could have my problem. My 04. 5 NV5600 man trans towed my boat perfect all the way too Lake Mead, only to have the boat F---Up and 5 days of sitting on a beach watching every one else having fun. Sorry to hear of your ATS trans, have you checked your warranty, at least there might be a free repair. My boat will cost lots of $$$$$$$, if what the mech suspects is the problem. There is a reason why we named it "Blown Bonus" and this is some insight why.

I made it to the lake. a friend who has a ford towed the boat. I also go boating at lake mead and live in henderson. I am pretty good with a traler but anything over a few miles an hour and it gets a little squirly. the transmission does have a warranty I will call in the morning and we will see if they honor it.

My daughter had an ATS transmission in her 96. ATS totally stood behind their warranty (again and again and again - long story). ATS even replaced the transmission with only about 30 days left in the warranty.

Lake Mead

Guys, I also live in LAS and boat on Lake Mead.

Cochran, sorry to hear of your troubles. One of the reasons that I go with merchants that have great reputations is that they will stand behind their products. Although the downtme sucks, I am sure ATS will stand behind their product...

Cheers, Bill

Sounds like some people are just a little too hard to keep happy. :{

Well his tranns is less than 2 yrs old, doent have a ton of HP put to it with a juice and exhaust and intake, I would hope a little help with the 3 year 150K mile warranty would be in order.

What was the problem with the tranns? How did it turn out?
