Oo. Today was a good day, not only being my birthday but Rick Allison of A & A trans informed me today that he has my output shaft, along with 5 to put on the shelf.

This has been a very long process and I can now see some light at the end of the tunnel.

The shafts will fit the non-overdrive 4x4 trans.

I assume this shaft is for the 727 transmission. Is there other shafts that also need hardening (front or intermediate), or is this output shaft the only one that needs beefing up. What torque is it designed for? When you say hardened, do you mean this is an original shaft that has been heat treated, or is this shaft machined from a special alloy? Please excuse my ignorance and TIA.

Yes the shaft is for the 727, there is one more shaft in the trans the input which is already made along with a better input hub.

The shaft is made out of 300M, as far as what torque it will handle, hard to tell but it's stronger than stock.

The input shaft and hub in stock for are pretty strong but when I pulled it out the hub had cracks in it and was only a matter of time before it failed

Zach

that's what was in the truck, not all of our trucks were overdrive.

I like not having overdrive for performance apps, less things to worry about and one less shaft to break.

I never heard of that material type.

But if you can tell me what the stock material is (and the shaft od at the smallest place, I can get someone to do an analysis and find out if in fact it will be stronger and by how much.

Forrest, it has a P-Pump with some special super-duty pistons, blue printed first gen engine etc. etc. etc. It NEEDS a shaft. The OEM unit didn't like the high boost launches.

Happy Birthday, Zach!!!.

Sorry guy's been kinda busy and missed the thread.

Hfletcher you have a PM sorry for taking so long to respond.

Scott thanks for the birthday wishes, and yes the stock shaft did not like the boosted launches but the front axle held!!!!

The shaft is Ideal for drag racing and truck pulling, it dose require going to a manual valve body, the shaft is not drilled for gov. oiling to help retain strength.

Jay

300m is a modified 4340 that has been used in the aircraft industry for quite a while.

Forrest the trannys in the first gens you can call them what you want but they are 727 on the inside i have the planetaries to prove it

I've been trying to get this shaft from A&A for a while. They have not been much help in finding it. Do you have a part number for it by any chance. I know its been a while...
