Competition What Pulling Clutch Are you Running?

Competition BANKS: F-something-50 vs GT Stang

Well I replaced my Mach 6 injectors with something alot bigger and all I can say is wow:eek: Truck ran excellent at the local pull tonight, pulled it out the gate and within 10 feet of the fence before something broke. I thought I was going to hit the fence until she gave way. No forward or reverse gears:mad:

I can shift it into any gear without the clutch and no grinding occurs. Did I shear off the input shaft of the trans? I also can't get it into 2wd high or 4wd high, only neutral or 4wd low on the transfer case.

Out of about 15 pullers in the diesel class, I ended up in 2nd place by 4 feet. I got beat by the Midwest Diesel Performance duramax. I know if it wouldn't have broke I would of made it farther#@$%!

I'll find out tomorrow (err I mean today) what is broke when I pull it apart.

I've got it on video I think, I'll try to get it on here.

Darn it, I just watched the video of the entire pull. Everyones vid looks good except mine, the camcorder decided to quit recording about the time I went past the gate. I uploaded midwest's pull right before mine for comparison. They got me by 4' but I was still movin' when she let go... ... .

Not bad for no sponsors and no shop work done to the truck, huh?

Justin, how much will an input shaft or mainshaft run me? Where did you get yours from and did you put it in yourself?

Any possible way you can swing a 271 conversion? If you can that would be great because they are pretty darn bullet proof.

Nice run. That Midwest truck runs pretty good but I managed to get by him at Indy.

Yeah, I've got one in the garage taken up space. I guess it's time to slap it on and get my relatively new driveshafts relengthed. What's a rebuilt 241DHD worth? I will have one for sale by next weekend...

I just did the 271 conversion on mine this weekend and it went pretty well I will say this if you have the flange style output and want to go with 1480 joints Dana discountinued them and the replacement is out 120 days. I did find a place that has about 5 of them but not until after my new shaft was made with the the 1410 on the front and 1480 on the rear. It was a rush deal and I had to have the drive shaft by this weekend to make the Wahoo pull. Mark at greensburg machine was excellent to work with great service! As for your shaft you might have to shorten it so you wont be out all that much. Three hooks on the new case and it's still working compared to the previous three hooks breaking 2 output shafts on the 241.

How did you do at Wahoo? I wish I could have made it.

Can you PM me the name of the place that has the 1480 flanged yokes that fit on the 271? I'd like to order one from them.

yea thanks for jinxing me for the rest of the season. the nv5600 was bullet proof for years, then i get one and it breaks 4 times.

the dana 80 is bullet proof, until you pull with it 3 times then it grenades also LOL

i just like finding the weakest link! thanks god its not the motor, like the crank, rods, pistons, or block like with those v8 diesels

What broke in the NV5600 four times? Did it break from shear torque or did it get to hopping on the track?

As soon as I get this 271 installed, I'm just wondering what the next weak link will be. I already know I'm on borrowed time with the stock rear axle shafts.
