I have a 96 that when I start it the ABS and brake dash light comes on. The truck is not moving when this happens. Any ideas?????

If it stays on, more than likely it needs the abs speed sensor in the differential. I have put two in mine. Sometimes screws up the speedo also. You can pull the abs codes from the aldl connector, but not sure which two pins to cross without looking it up.

A vacuum leak will turn on the brake light, but does it also turn on the abs light? When my supply line to the cruise servo broke, it did not turn on either one. Maybe too small of a leak.

I had brake and ABS lights once after being in mud up over the axels. Likely not your problem, but check for dirt in the front wheel tone rings if you were off road recently. A pressure wash solved my problem.

Sorry. I left my ID at home.

Hah! I kill me!

If you have a "Controller, Antilock Brake", commonly called a CAB, under the hood, it may have died, or the connector is loose, or some such.

mine's been on since i jammed my brakes this past winter, i'm hoping the bulbs will just blow out soon. i usually just reset the battery's. never get a code for it.

I had the same problem as hsmith, trouble code was differential speed sensor. Checked connector, didn't get it. Replaced it, cleared both lights.

Don't know why they crap out, they just sit there and watch the tone wheel go by.

Good luck, Tom
