Ok guys, I noticed that latley my rear end has been making some noise. I pulled it apart and there seems to be an excessive amount of play in the spider gears. I have a 3. 07 rearend and I would like to keep it that way.

So my question is were do I get parts for this thing? I will also have to replace the shims, because they ate them selfs.

I've also been looking into a lock rite locker instead of spider gears. My truck is 2wd. I do use it as a daily driver but dont think the clunking would bug me. Should I go for it or leave It open? thanks for any help.

Consider a locker. Then it's open most of the time for better normal use, but totally locked for traction when you need it.

Unless you know how to set up a ring and pinion I's suggest geting it rebuild at a shop, and forget about a locker IMHO. I've used them and will never install another one, it's limited slip's or open for me.

Hey philip, Is that what I have with the 3. 07's, A dana 71? Just nice to know the right name so it kinda sounds like I know what Im talking about.

Thanks ever one else. for the help too. If any one has a lock rite in an axle I would love to hear from them.

I replaced a set of spiders in my front 61 axle a while back. DTS had them to me the next day. Quad took a month to get a left side axle to me and a half ### pinion install kit.

After that wait. I decided to go back to my normal supplier.

Get the lockrite. It takes no special tools, and no setup, as it goes in your stock carrier. I've been running one in the front of my 75 pulling truck for 5 years, and sometimes 1000# of suitcase weights hanging on the front. No problems so far, and you will like the positive traction. No noise on corners so far either. If you don't like it, pull it out, sell it and put some new spiders back in.

Just remember whenever traction is not good, the rear end is going to dance, as both back tires will spin. For me, thats no problem, but my wife and brother refuse to drive my CTD in the rain.

MMiller I think were on the same page. I dont ever pull anything with my truck, or at least yet. the only thing I wonder about is if I didnt like it, how easy would it be to sell?

thanks for all the help and suggestions guys. I will be hard at work the next few days getting this thing back together.

That's kinda funny, considering she truck pulls when you go to SOP! :-laf

But you see Pete, the sled keeps the back end of the truck from passing the front end. An old guy stopped my neighbor the other day. He asked my neighbor who drives my truck harder, me or my wife. Apperently she got caught up town letting the smoke out of my truck. :-laf AS long as the pavement is dry.

I don't think you would have much trouble moving the lockright. Guys like Bgilbert would like them for drag racing. I think Partsman(dieseltweaker)'s first gen with 307's has lockrights front and rear.....

Michael

Anybody have any part #s for lockright for the 3. 07's. I was to the understanding that there was nothing available. I would perfer a limited slip... Anybody got any leads. .

The spider gears are the same between a 3:07 and a normal 60/70. So any lockrite for a 70 should work.

As far as a limited slip the only place I have found one is from Dodge. It is still a listed as a in stock item as of a couple of months ago. "Set down". Its around $600. for it. Depends on if you can get any discounts.
