I notice my transfer goes in 4 lock on the dash and 4 low but there seems to be not much difference in gearing if any. My other 8 or so 4x4s had a major gear difference from hi to low:confused:

Is this normal for these trucks?

Im thinking it may not be going into low at all just staying in hi and the lite on the dash is seeing the switch position not the real location of the transfer shift motor. This may be why it has jumped in nutrel a few times on its own:mad:

There's definately a difference between low and high range. I'm not sure of the ratio, but it seems like it's around 2. 73 or so. I believe top speed in 4-low would be around 40 mph. --Eric

I've only electric shifted my '07 a few times just to try it out. Definite noticeable difference in gear ratio. You have to have transmission in neutral before initiating shift button then wait for dash light to quit blinking otherwise it'll hang up just like you've described. You can clearly hear and feel the clunk when electric servo shifts it into low range.

OOps Im so stupid sometimes

I thought the blinking lite was all ok.

I never put transmission in nutrel and just left it blinking on low.

I guess Iv never really had it in low yet.

Thats why its jumped in nutrel on the transfew a few times.

Im heading out to try it out in 4low now

Thanks so much for the info guys

top speed is around 40 mph CONFIRMED. ratio 2. 72. double check if its in 4wl by moving shift lever for 48re down to number 1 and seeing how fast you go. if your transmission is modded try accelerating from stand still at full throttle in 4wl you should feel like every time it shifts the front seat will end up out the back glass. another thing find a parking lot and use 4wl in 1st and you should feel front skipping and hopping along with steering feed back if it is actually going into 4wd.

Had it in 4low today for the 1st time and its nice and low geared like all my other trucks. Up till now i had only been in hi and had a blinking low lite cause i never put transmission in nutrel to let it mesh in all the way to low. I feel kinda stupid but it has solved my issue of the transfer jumping in nutrel out on the beach.

I did spend a few nites reading the manual when i got the truck but i missed that one.

thanks guys for bearing with me and helping solve my problem.

If not for tdr I would not be able to keep this truck going
