Thinking about tuning up my truck. I currently run an edge ez. Is anyone running an edge ez with the smarty tuner? Any info will be greatly appreciated.

I know quite a few here are. We've sold several of the Smartys with the EZ. This is the most popular way of stacking the Smarty with another box. I'm sure someone will be able to chime in and give you their personal experiance and maybe even some dyno #s.

When I did some dynoing with the stack I only gained 3 hp by adding the ez.

Marco programs the smarty to get all the fuel out of the injection pump within its stock limitations.

We will do some more testing in a month or so.

Thats a bummer, Mine'll probably be sold by then. .

All I wanted was a stock SW with about 50% of the normal added timing just like the old Diesel Dynamics version of the EZ. No added fueling. With the ABS, boost fooling, and no rev limiter. Thats all! Cant even get a beta version to try. .

I think that Bob was trying to explain that stacking a EZ and a Smarty really does not add much.

Reading on and between the lines it is probably not much of an optimum stack .....

IMO just go with one or the other.

Yeah, the VP44 will only give up so much fuel without a wire tap box, and either the EZ or the Smarty will max it out by themselves. Adding one to the other would be like trying to squeeze water from a dry sponge.

I would go with the smarty. . I had mine stacked with the EZ and it was good... But when you move on to the Comp or Drag or whichever you choose then the Smarty will compliment these other boxes. The EZ is a good product but if you plan on additional performance items (we all end up getting them), then go with the smarty... Just saves you from having to sell the EZ down the road.

I've run an EZ and then a Comp when my EZ died and I got past my 100K warranty. I now run a Comp and a Smarty and they work great together. For towing I run just the Smarty on level 9. The Smarty smokes less than the EZ and makes a lot more towing power. For fun I run the Comp on 5 X 5 and the Smarty on level 8 (see my numbers below).

I have heard people complain about the smarty making the accelerator pedal too responsive. As if it was compressed into only the first half of the pedal's travel. Is there anything you don't like about the smarty?

the only problem is i already have the ez...

That is not a problem. EZ is a good and well proven box. It already gives you the timing increase for better MPG's & lower EGT's, and a "reasonably smooth" power increase in the heart of the powerband that is practical for everyday driving and towing.

In addition to your EZ, for over $600. 00 all a Smarty will get for you on your 2nd gen is an expensive code reader, ABS adjustment, a "touchier" throttle, about 3 HP, and almost no bugfix/updates from the mfg.

Been there done that.

Edited: For 3rd gen trucks the Smarty gives more options and is getting great reports.
