Transmission Fluid question??

Hey guys, I've been reading alot on the site and have come across the G56 several times. My truck has the 6 spd and I thought it was the NV 5600 but now I'm not sure. Reverse is up to the far right, if that makes any difference between the two. Also, when the clutch is pushed and released while at a standstill and running, it makes a noise as if something is loose inside (maybe the throwout bearing), and when you shut the engine down with the pedal out it makes quite a rattle. With the clutch pedal in it is much smoother and quieter. So was I right do I have the NV5600, or is it the G56? Any ideas as to the noise? I plan to replace the clutch soon anyways as to it seems to be on it's way out and I want to upgrade to a better clutch to hold more power for future mods. Any suggestions as to a good smooth operating clutch, that will hold plenty of power and still be everyday driver friendly? Thanks

You have the NV5600. The G56 has the reverse location on the shifter to the left and down. Year 2005 was the mid year change for the 6 spd trannys. Anything prior to 2005 in a 6 spd is the NV5600.

Yep, you have a NV5600. Any South Bend Clutch has a few applications that would work for you. Most likely, if you want everyday friendly driver without additional pedal pressure the single disc SBC will be fine. I personally have the Dual Disk on a G-56 and find that once I got used to the additional pedal pressure it is quite drivable. however, i get a signifcant rattle from the Dual, and with the additional cost it might be better if you look at the single disc. Also, another clutch company to look at if Luk, and i have a neighbor with a Ford that has gotten good use out of his (170K miles)...

How many miles do you have on the clutch. Most folks on TDR are getting about 150K on the original. I too would go with a South Bend.
