Horn blowing when backing up

I just bought another 2004 ctd 2500 4x4 pick up and the previous owner took the truck in for that horrible recall to make the horn blow if your door is open while backing up. Can that be reversed, if so can I do it or is that a dealer thing?

Don't think it can be reversed. I just belt the seat behind me.

Clamping a scotch-loc across the drivers seat belt buckle wire should fix that.

in a 04 the middle seat belt buckle will fit in drivers buckle

dealer will NOT un-do it. leaving seat belt buckled wont stop it in my '05. My favorite part is when I'm trying to hook up to camper, make SURE transmission selector reads "park", hop out to my thing and have it go off because the "park" indicator starts flickering. My neighbors love it!#@$%!

Cut the two wires under the seat and solder them together. It works great on my 06 MC

I used a short jumper wire made up with two spade lugs on the ends. Disconnect the electrical connector under the driver's seat. Plug the jumper wire into the seat belt connector... no more dinging seat belt alarm and the "little red man" disappears on the dash if the seat belt is left unconnected. No need to cut the factory wire.

Still won't work. If the seatbelt won't work, jumping the seatbelt indicator light won't work.

jumper the wire in the door latch switch. . will never see the door open so the horn will not sound. or you could swap the left/right door [or dr front/dr rear] switch wires with some extensions so some other door than the drivers door will cause the horn. .

or

just don't open the door while backing up???

Another option I read here on TDR was to install a relay (normally on) at the horn and use the back-up lamp feed wire to trip the relay off. That way the horn will never blow when the back-up lamps are on.

After reading this I guess there no sure way to stop the horn from blowing. I never blow the horn anyway. Maybe I will just disconnect the horn.

I guess if you have a locomotive air horn installed, you don't need to use your stock horn anyway.
