I am not able to tell why your MPG is low, but I will share with you what I am getting.

You can see what I am driving by reading my sig. the best I get on the highway is about 16 to 16 1/2 mpg. Towing my fifth-wheel (every bit of 14K) I get about 11-12mpg. My motor and drive-train are stock (no chip). Notice I have a 4. 10 rear. My brother just bought a 2006 4X4 2500 Q Cab with a 3. 73 rear. He just completed 900 mile trip and averaged 19. 9mpg. From everything I have read the numbers I gave you are very close to the norm.

if your bro has got 3. 73 gears than my guess is he has manual transmission or swapped to 3. 73. auto's tend to be harder on economy than straight drives.

The biggest difference I have found between the 06 and 98 12V is unloaded and lightly loaded. There the difference is 2-3mpg, advantage 12V. The 06 has 35K on it now. Towing 12-13K at 75 with the 06 yields 10mpg. Towing the 13. 5K fiver with the 98 at 75 yields 10-10. 5. Slowing to 60-65 yields 11. 5 with the 98, but rain hasn't slowed me down working so far.

my truck seems better than that for MPG

Wow.....

Well, if I drive like a maniac I don't get any mileage at all, about 10 or so, but prior to installing a tripple pup programer I was getting a best of 22. 4 solo @ 62mph, and 14. 5 @ 60mph pulling about 11K trailer. Since I have had the programmer installed I have done a best of 27. 6mpg @62mph, and 18. 4 pulling the same 11K trailer at 60mph. Now granted I don't push things too hard, and most of that was on flat land but some mountains, but I was very impressed with the programmer! Other mods to the truck are a AFE drop in cone filter and have the programmer set on TOW/Fuel MPG setting and have tires set @70psi. My truck is a 06 mega cab dually with the G56 manual and 3. 73 axle ratio. Oo.

Richard Brown @ Browns Diesel in Riverdale, CA set me up, and he has ALWAYS done me right!

27mpg????????? 18 with 11K. WOW is all i can say. I couldnt get 25 coasting down a hill, and your getting 27+, amazing. almost to good to be true.

You need at least 15K on the clock. Hold your speed below 70. Make sure the tires are properly inflated, 65psi front, 50 to 70psi rear. Is the air cleaner okay? Maybe a new fuel filter. Always use cruise control when possible on the interstate.

I have an 06 Mega 4x4 auto. Towing a 20' open car trailer (2400 pounds) with my 69 Road Runner on top (3800 pounds), I got 14. 5 mpg going about 70 through the hills of WV to the Mopar Nats.

I got 15. 3 mpg on the way back.

Yes, 27mpg

yes, 27 mpg... . I did hand calculation 3 times to make sure, overhead was leaning more toward 28. all fwy driving, and cruise set.

but now I am having some other issue with the truck, and it might be lift pump related.

I'm getting 19 MPG average highway and city. Towing 3000 lb Toyota Camry 14 MPG. I keep my speed aroung 60-65 MPH. I have approx. 33k on the truck.
