lol ! I know what you mean! The last time I dyno'd the 05 it put down 541 without the big sticks in! It sure was funny to drive it stock again!! This 6. 7 thing seems to have pretty good power for a stock truck!

Jschutz, I may have missed something in your post or sig, I don't think I did, but 12k is a low down slap in the face in these parts for a trade in on a '03. If that's what the dealer is willing to give, and I've got my info right, sell that thing private party. Heck, I'LL buy it for 12k! Furthermore, you should get at least 10-12 grand private party with 400k on the clock, and IMO that's a ridiculously low estimate.

I'm a firm believer in "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". If my vet or farrier showed up in a old beater I might make fun of him but I can guarantee no one touches my livestock but the guys that I know and have a working relationship with, I don't care what they're drivin'. Trust in your clientèle, if you've got skills, they'll stand by you. Then when '09 rolls around your current truck will be paid for, if it isn't already, and the kinks will be worked out of the 6. 7's. Keep the old one for reserve or sell it then.

You may have missed the fact that he has 264K miles.

Using my zip code, 59901, that truck books for $16,500. I got the mileage right. I only added 4x4 and diesel as options. NADA. Kelly blue book for private party is $16,900. The market can't be that depressed in another area. The deal offered was not a fair one IMO. CR diesels are not my cup of tea! I'll take the kdp over a valve seat falling out any day. Still, a road trip to the South did give me pause for a second!

According to Kelly Blue Book, the Trade-In Value for that truck is $15,210, with 264K miles and as listed in his signature.

Thanks for all the replies--it's been very interesting.

I should add that while the truck is mechanically fine, the body looks like a large family of cats has been using it as a scratching post due to driving through pasture brush and briars. It seems like the paint on this truck is nothing more than white wash with pigment. I do believe I could scratch down to primer with nothing harder than my finger nail. Several windshild stars and some air damn damage from a large rock in the grass round out the cosmetic problems.
