Dumb question about towing with auto trans

Now THAT is ridiculous #@$%! What do we have to do to get it thru the government's head that our transportation infrastructure is (holding hands about eye-level) somewhere up here on the priority list, and current existing freeways shouldn't become tollways. Time to get priorities straight in this country.

Like I said, none of the toll money, fuel consumption tax, FET taxes, or heavy road use tax that the big trucks pay are going to infrastructure. It goes directly to the general fund, only to be doled back out, and is often times used as a headlock to get the states to do as the Feds wish.

The worst part is, as a nation, we are too apathetic to stand up and demand that things change. I was actually kind of surprised that enough people screamed to knock down the amnesty bill, but they did.

They all say that ... ... ... ... KY was the only state to ever actually remove toll booths as far as I know.

I-30 between Dallas & Ft. Worth was a toll road when I was a kid. They actually did take the toll booths out. It sure left some wierd entrance/exit ramps.

The Coronado Bridge in San Diego was a toll road for the longest time. California was supposed to remove the toll after it was paid for but had let it stay in place until residents forced the issue because rush hour was such a bear and now the toll booths are empty and no tolls are collected.

I definately get ripped off, I have to pay the same as cars even though my bike weighs a fraction of what they do and I only have two wheels.

We have $billions being collected for infrastructure that goes directly into the general fund ... ... ..... and no money to fix bridges so that people don't die!

I can't agree more. #@$%!

The problem is, that the politicians forget they work for US. We don't work for THEM. They think the money we have is theirs already. To them, they are just nice enough to let us keep some of it.

There is MORE than enough money. They just p*** it away on welfare and other worthless pork projects. That, and aid money to countries that hate us. Same goes for the money that goes to AIDS in Africa.

Another thing, what is so special about the "Super 70" project in Indy? Gonna turn that road into a toll road to lease out, too?

It didn't say they "are" doing road repairs. The article said it would "pay for" road repairs. ;) :-laf

Their idea of road patches suck. They are rougher than the holes they filled in.

I might go for toll roads if the road tax was taken out of the cost of fuel. Like that's going to happen. We should be taxing the heck out of those trucks that are coming in from Mexico now.

Toll roads are just another cash cow. We, the people, need to get from here to there, the gov't knows it, so they tax it. Airport taxes. Fuel taxes. Pretty soon, we're going to be taxed on the amount of taxes we pay.
