Does anyone have a measure of what a good price would be comparing MSRP to cash price? For example, would 34,000 be a good price on a truck with an MSRP of 43,900 (22 1/2% reduction).
 
Don't know if this helps; and I haven't updated my sig yet... but I just purchased a 07. 5 Mega Cab Laramie Dually Auto 4x4 with almost every available option (VES, NAV, Sunroof, UConnect, etc. ) MSRP was $58,520

Cash purchase price was $47,300 plus tax and tag. I felt like this was an excellent deal. Purchase price was calculated by taking invoice minus the $3500 rebate minus 75% of the dealer holdback. No Doc Fee either. I am EXTREMELY happy with the new truck; except for the poor A/C, (a horse which has been beat to death here)

Forget MSRP. I really doesn't mean anything. Find out what the actual invoice price is. Invoice is supposably what the dealer pays, however they get it cheaper due to Holdback money, which is reimbursed back to the dealer for a quick sale, plus other incentives. A good price to pay for any car or truck is invoice or 2 to 3% over invoice. Invoice pricing data can be obtained from KelleyBlueBook.com or Edmond.com or other web sited. Also a good dealer like Dave Smith in Kellogg, ID or Melloy Dodge in Albuquerque will give you invoice pricing. Once you know invoice pricing, then it's just a matter of negotiating profit.
 
KMeek, I would really check out Dishman Dodge in Spokane. There's been quite a few members buy from them recently and their prices are pretty tough to beat. Brad Macomber was specifically working with TDR members and everyone was very pleased with the buying experience. Do a search on "Macomber. " Dishman's TDR rep now I think is Rob Croswhite (his handle is Dishman Dodge).

You have 2 of the largest dealers in the country within 100 miles of you... Dave Smith in Kellogg ID and Dishman in Spokane... . In either case give them the following...

Your a TDR member, and they'll quote you 1000 back of invoice, tell you what they have in stock and whats on the way... .

Will give you any rebates that your due and an additional 500 farm bureau rebate if your a member... .

I've used Rob Croswhite for several years and like the young man... .
 
Most of the dealers will give you 3% UNDER invoice plus all available rebates. Lou Fusz Dodge, Dishman Dodge, Dave Smith are the ones that come to mind. No dealing, just tell them what you want, or ask them what they have on the lot, and they will give you a NO BS price. Lou Fusz (Bill Miller) did really well by me. Scotty
 
Here is an add from a local dealership in Colorado. The price is good, however, they will try to give you next to nothing for a trade in.
 
Pay NO attention to (whatever amount of) "percent off" of MSRP!
Pure BS, typical dealer come-on advertising.

I use the MSRP and then discount that by 10% to 16% for an (out the door price) with tax, lic. , doc, rebates included.

Example: MSRP 48,520 - 12. 4% = 42,500 (out the door). My nephew just bought a 2008 Ram 3500 Quad cab, SLT, SRW, 4 wheel dr. auto, turbo diesel 350/650 for 42,500 out the door !

The last three new vehicles that I was involved with has been this way.
