Competition Roll call for Eldon truck pulls

Competition Another first place hook, broke rear driveshaft to boot!

Well, what started out as a nice, evening drive on some backroad trails, turned out to be 3. 5 hours stuck in the mud, and another 6 hours driving around trying to figure out how to get out!

I came to the end of some trails, and thought I would venture out into the dried lakebottoms (we've been in somewhat of a drought all summer, and the lake is very low). Well, it started pouring rain, and things got very sticky. For a while, the truck was buried up past the axle tubes in mud, and was sitting on the running boards! After carrying countless rocks, digging, spinning, praying, etc, we finally made it out.

After $36 at the car wash, things look a little better... now I just have to replace 2 fog light lenses, front steering stabilizer, etc.

Can you believe these trails were on the Mopar Navus GPS?

It probably didn't help that the Toyo's are bald, airing them down did help. I'll have to get that Lorenz lift and 37's and try again!

Looking at the pics, if you had a better self cleaning tire, you would have made it around fine... Baldy's didn't help at all :-laf

Looks like fun!!

Too bad about the broken parts. Nice smoke.

:-laf Yeah, I've got 40k on the Toyo M/T's, and they're about gone. I guess I'm just tight, and trying to get everything I can out of them. The sad thing is I've had a set of 37's waiting to go on for 6 months! Oh well, long as the weather stays dry, I'll probably hold out till fall... .

Need Tools?

Eric,

Sorry 'bout your stuck. I know the feelin' though. Before I owned a CTD my boss let me try his out for a weekend and I buried it to the frame-it had 44s. I did have one advantage-even though he said I wouldn't need it, I took my highlift jack with me and boy was I glad to have it. You can get them rated for close to 10Klbs and they work great. I didn't see any pics with tools. If you don't have one already you might think about getting one.

Happy Wheelin'

Sucks, I had a stuck late last winter where I was buried up to the axles, blew out one tire due to a valve core, dented steering stabilizer, scratched rims and dent in my bed from a tree. Took me a couple hours to get out, ended up getting two f-350s that could not pull me out while one got stuck too. Ended up running a backhoe from 30 miles away to pull the trucks out. Atleast you had some room to work with.

That is a good looking truck, don't mean to hijack this thread, but where did you get the little lights along the bottom of your truck?

Darn right there! I never leave home in my jeep without the highlift, even as a slow winching device it works good

Make sure none of the breathers on your diffs are clogged. Flinging mud can get in some pretty annoying locations.

Good suggestion... I'll check this weekend. I know that even after 5 hours or more at the car wash, I'm still finding mud I missed! --Eric
