If I can run 24 mpg, cook my own veggie fuel, the truck is cheaper to get to work in than the car. Turn it off to tow the trailer!

What I am talking about is a simple plug and play box with an On/OFF switch that will guarantee say a 10-20% increase in mileage. It will offer EGT reduction, Better Mileage, Better throttle response and updatability to a 70 hp module via web update (you wil pay extra for this. )

Okay, so how will this differ from any other timing box for a 24v other than price?

Other "timing" boxes add fuel and do the timing differently. They can net mileage gains but, they also pose the ability to loose mileage if you dip into it too much.

This takes that away and it is offered at a price that is truly economical.

When will this product be available and where do we buy it? I have an 05 3500 with 6 spd the only heavy work I put on it is hauling a 4000 lb (appr) camper. Will it help me?

Well, it depends on what you want. If you ONLY want mileage then buy the mileage box.

If you want power and mileage you can either buy the XZT+ and go on.

OR

You can try the mileage box and upgrade it at anytime online to the XZT+ box. It is very simple and the cost is the same to you. However you want to do it is fine. I m just offering 2 ways to get to the same spot. The mileage will be easier to get mileage with because it does not have the tempting 3rd level to it! It also provides a less expensive introduction into the performance world.

If I was to start of with the race box, then upgrade online, do you still have the benefit of the race box only? or does it becomes an XZT+ after you do the download? can't go back to race only option??

I voted HECK YES, it would be nice if it could stack with say a SMARTY on the odd numbers if you wanted power and economy.

I'd be willing to sink ~200$ into something like that.

JC

You have alot of boxes available. Why not just make a program available that can be downloaded to the XZT+?

That misses the point of it costing 50% of what the XZT+ costs, unless you just used the XZT+ box as the basis, and only charged half, called it an XZT Jr. (or XZT- :D ) and could upgrade maybe to full XZT+ for another $200 later on. Of course, the program could load to the XZT+ if you wanted.

Smarty Fuel Saver Setting

I tried using my Smarty in the fuel saver setting and the lack of power drove me insane. I got 16. 5 mpg at 70 mph with the AC on going from Austin to Dallas and back but the lack of power was hard to stomach. I probably would have gotten 17. 5 - 18. 5 mpg at 55 mph with no AC (3. 54 gears). I like to have my 447. 5 HP\983. 5 TQ available with a press of the peddle.

hi. Akaiser or qzilla. first post. what settings (0,1,2,3) on my xzt would generally provide the best mpg for in town empty, hyw empty, and towing since i usually have more power than i need. all i normally use is level 3.

There will be a download to get this same exact thing. Basically the only thing that happens is we take the happy button away!! The idea is to offer something economical for fuel mileage only.

Well on the race box you will have something like this

Off

PL1 - mileage programming

PL2 - XZT+ programming

PL3 - Grin

PL4 - Worried Grin

PL5 - Sort of Scared

PL6 - Bad smell in the truck.

Of course we can have downloads for anything we want but, the options are endless.

On the older XZT the best mileage setting is usually PL2 not the highest, not the lowest.

The XZT+ is starting to look more interesting since there is alot of different varieties of software coming out for it.

Also the 3 adjustable settings looks practical.

Kind of like the idea of having a "Mild Timing" only setting, then mild timing + fueling, then frankly the 3rd setting doesnt matter much because the fueling box can be turned up in case of enemy attack or needing to make a pass.

Just keep those software versions coming and Ill be trying one out also. .

Im looking for mild bottom end with power still on demand.

I kinda of like that PL6 setting LOL.

If Ie can stay with good mileage (PL1) and swtich to the more power for towing I would buy one for sure!!! It would be wortht he upgrade too.

Thanks for your reply

I'll buy one . All my upgrades have been strictly for mileage and longevity. Stock was a 2001 4wd xcab auto. Now I have added a HX35 turbo, Bosch(BD)40+ injectors, removed the muffler, put 285 tires on, and attempt to keep the egt's close to 600. This has taken me from 16. 5 average mpg and at most 18mpg @75 mph up to an average of 21. 0 mpg across the board. In 65mph states I get 24. 4 mpg. I have never chipped my truck because I don't need or want more power I want more mileage.

Interresting discussion here on a new box... now we all know how to get more HP and torque. . more air, more fuel, timing, boxes, Nos. . etc...

there are 3 factors for mileage . . weight, speed, aerodynamics. . actually 4. . and weight to power ratio.

I drive a big rig and know that if you have more power for the load, it will get better mileage. .

a test was done on a dodge. . it was a 2wd, did some side skirting for the tires, and other stuff, reduced weight, aired up tires to max psi, and got close to 30mpg.

I have a 01 2500 4wd, my 59 was rebuilt to . 020 over, I have a hybrid turbo, 6 speed manual. and in the warm months I run 245 70 R 19. 5" truck tires. mainly for towing but they roll great solo. I am constanly seeing over 20 mpg when cruising under 60 mph and sometimes over 30. . engine is turning 1500 rpm at that time. . mind you this is flat road no hard push. .

wind resistance takes over the rolling resistance as determining factor over 55 mph. so go slower and coast when you can and you will see better mileage.

How much for the upgrade?

I noticed that the box from the poll is available as the M3. It is listed at $199. No word on what the upgrade would cost or how it will differ from the other Quadzilla products that are already available.

I'd be tempted to buy one,but... most of my mileage is interstate. Before injectors, boost elbow, and Smarty on Fuel Saver setting I got 15 mpg @82MPH A/C on. With Injectors, boost elbow, and Smarty Fuel Saver on I got 17MPG @82MPH A/C on. That's a 13% increase by my math. Now, was all of that the smarty? Doubtful, but could your box do me better? I know the simple fact is, the faster I go, the more wind resistance I'm fighting and the higher Rpm I'm turning. But, unless diesel hits $4 a gallon or higher, I'm probably not going to slow down to the speed limit of 75MPH or even lower. I like getting to where I'm going, there's usally nothing I want to see in between and my usual 11 hour trip at 80MPH+ would only get longer the slower I went. The only thing that would change in my scenario would be the box and I don't know how much of my 13% increase can be attributed to my current box. However, making your box less than $200 makes it very tempting just to give it a try. You wanted it, I gave it... my $. 02
